MuLab App 9.3.x beta for Windows 64 bit is available:

https://www.mutools.com/mulab/app/lates ... /beta.html

https://www.mutools.com/mulab/plugin/la ... /beta.html

What's new:
  • VST3 plugin support.
  • Better default position and size for floating clip editors.
  • Refined behavior in case a plugin reports an error during opening its editor.
  • Improved method of quitting MuLab from within a plugin editor.
  • Other small improvements.
If you want to help with testing, your feedback on the new VST3 plugin hosting is very welcome!

Whoa! Can't wait to get home from work now! Lol thanks Jo, will test as many as I can in the next few days. I have many that I've been waiting to use since finding out you're adding vst3 support. That's probably one of the best things you could have done for MuLab! :)

Post

Well done! I tested my VST3 instruments and most of them works:
  • Toontrack - EzDrummer3, EzKeys2 - works fine
  • Steinberg - Groove Agent 5, Padshop, Retrologue - works, but it's listed as VST3 Effect (not a synth)
  • Reason Rack - works, but it's listed as VST3 Effect
  • Surge XT - works, but it's listed as VST3 Effect
  • Steinberg Halion7 and NI Kontakt 7 - listed as VST3 Effect and doesn't work (processing/bypass buton shown in red)

I know it's only just been released, but I didn't want to forget. No rush, but is there any chance of making the different plugin types appear in the Plugin Manager in different colours please?

Quick load and test of the following:
Akai
Bassline - ok
Delay Pro - ok
Odyssey - ok
OPx4 - ok
Korg
Arp Odyssey - ok
ELECTRIBE-R - ok
microKORG - ok
KAOSSPAD - ok
Roland
JD-800 - instant crash
Juno 60 - instant crash
Jupiter 4 - instant crash - is shown as an effect
SH-2 - instant crash
U-He - demos
ACE - ok
ColourCopy - ok
MFM2 - ok
Presswerk - ok
Satin - ok
Twangstrom - ok
U-He - licensed
Diva - ok
Hive - ok
Triple Cheese - ok
Uhbik - only shows the one plugin instead of the set of 10
Others
FullBucket Delay- ok
EchoMelt3 - ok
GR-8 - ok
Sylenth1 - ok
Every VST3 plugin I've tried above works with SaviHost. It seems MuLab has an issue with the Roland ones. Incidentally, the VST2.4 versions of the same Roland Plugins work ok.

Just tried Reason 12 in MuLab and it works. Been looking forward to this day. Thank you so much

Oh wow, already. Thanks and I'll test later---

Updated my post above.
Only ones not working are the Roland ones and Uhbik.

This is unbelievable :D

And comes that dry as a beta announcement 8)

For quick testing:
- main problem as mentioned before (same behaviour here): Kontakt 7 does not work
- second general problem: a lot of instruments where classified as effects

But some of them are working despite it as expected....

What is really great and has removed Mulab from my daw list years ago: the midi stuff (like reason rack) seems to work fine now, I have tested some newer ones too (Acdgen, Stepic) working too.

For me a real game changer, as soon as Kontakt 7 will work Mulab definitely back on my list  :tu:

Great job. Just started to test Vital Dexed and Surge XT . Will go thru my vst3 collection end of week. Unfortunately have currently not lot of time because because father past away.

Thank you very much for your feedback on VST3 so far, very helpful :tu:

MuLab App 9.3.1 beta for Windows 64 bit is available: https://www.mutools.com/mulab/app/lates ... /beta.html

What's changed:
  • VST3 plugins could be wrongly categorized as effects. Fixed. (needs rescan)
  • CLAP/VST3: Fixed a serious bug when a plugin had more than the supported max num of inputs/outputs. (which was 32, but see next line)
  • CLAP/VST3: The max num of plugin inputs/outputs has been doubled from 32 to 64.
That's up to 64 audio ins, up to 64 audio outs, up to 64 event ins, up to 64 event outs.
Halion 7 should work now.

Can someone please check NI Kontakt.vst3 with M9.3.1.

About Uhe Uhbik: It's doing something wrong: It calls restartComponent from a wrong thread. That's not allowed.

I'll have a look at the Roland ones later. Hope they have eased the download/install procedure meanwhile, it was hell some time ago iirc.

Halion 7 and Kontakt 7 vst3 work now! Thank you Santa Claus for coming early this year :D

From what I've tested so far:

Emergence (Daniel Gergely)
Digitalis (Abberant DSP)
Dirty LA (BPB)
Chorus Jun-6 (Arturia)
Melodyne Essential (Celemony)
Little Radiator (Soundtoys)
LABS + BBC Symphony Orchestra (Spitfire Audio)
Kontakt 7 + Freak + Supercharger (Native Instruments)
Convex (Glitchmachines)
Dynastia (Outobugi)

...all work fine :)

However, in checking VST3 plugins from Izotope, I noticed they all seem to initiate a message saying the plugin is being scanned (except for one which I'll go over in a bit). Checking the plugin manager, it says under "Type" that it was "Not recognized as a valid VST3 plugin." The only plugin this error didn't happen with was Stutter Edit 2, showing the SDK version as VST 3.6.14. Otherwise, this error showed up for:

Iris 2
Ozone 10
Ozone 9
Ozone 9 Elements
Vinyl
VocalSynth 2

Thanks Jo. Really appreciate your hard work!

I previously asked about uhbik here. Urs explains how they've combined all the uhbik plugins into one and the host should show all as separate plugins. Hope that helps.
