Under this situation, I guess you just can’t get an update to fix it, it’s like Pro Tools.mdstudio wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 12:12 am What if there's a bug but your 1 year update period expired?
PreSonus Studio One 7 apparently imminent

Ok but that's the wrong way to think about it. You get updates for a year included in the fee, then if you wait another year and update again, the price is basically the same as if you waited between major versions and you'd end up with the same features.apoclypse wrote: Wed Sep 18, 2024 11:27 pm Okay but I would pay $129 for two years of updates. Now it's $149 for one. Sure I don't have to update yearly but I can't help but feel like I'm getting less for a higher price. Every time they say stuff like "the features will release when they are ready", it still translates to barely two updates within the year if not just one.
There's a time between major updates where you aren't getting new features because they are being held for the next major update. Now you have an option to get updates sooner if you are willing to pay to update sooner. It's actually more flexible. You would only be paying that much more if you always stay up to date. S1 already has many features and is totally useable if you are behind on updates it doesn't matter.

unfortunately, it seems so by looking at the blurred previews. Really hope they didn't spend all their resources on v7 working on a clip launcher and more internal instruments. The last thing i want are more instruments by presonus.

To me they complicated alternatives that would just tell everything in one screen dump
- below
So I can go perpetual upgrade from v4 to 7 for $149 and have updates for one year, not two as before(as I recall from 2018).
If I go Annual+ I also get StudioOne+ stuff for $180 and possibly do that every year if not cancelling.
- I guess Plus stuff is not available if cancelling Annual
But will perpetual go away after one year?
- I mean as purchase option
Either way it's a serious price raise to be up to date!!!
When companies go about like this they are really shooting in the dark.
- no entry level price tag
- it's a big jump for beginners
- all competition has Essential versions
- I think they will change this again in a year or so....

Naaaah - Bitwig most obviously nonetheless has major releases.SLiC wrote: Wed Sep 18, 2024 9:45 pmIf it’s the Bitwig model there are no more major releases…just a steady stream of small upgrades….thats how it works.kidslow wrote: Wed Sep 18, 2024 8:33 pm What happens if you upgrade 11 months before the next major release, would the upgrade be included in your year? They made no distinction between major releases and the one-year policy, so I assume yes.

Before using Reaper, I would rather consider “DAW-less” production.

Id rather learn to play fart kazoo than adopt Reaper

So, users who have bought pro from the early beginnings, paid for each upgrade are totally forgotten and equaled to artist users who spent much less? Did intern came up with this idea or…?

On the other hand, they have to come up with really good new features each year. Otherwise the users just won't upgrade.
All in all, I'm fine with this new pricing.

No, pro users at least get an updated daw every year, artist users have been f**ked over and get no updates ever again.HcDoom wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 8:02 am So, users who have bought pro from the early beginnings, paid for each upgrade are totally forgotten and equaled to artist users who spent much less? Mac mini m4 pro, Reaper, too many plugins, Modal Argon8, Novation Circuit Mono Station and now a lovely Waldorf Blofeld.

Not for years (one of the reasons I use Bitwig less and switched back to Live!) The entire point of this is not to hold back features for a big number releases and release them when there are ready...otherwise its a bit pointless. At the end of the day with Bitwig (and now S1) you just upgrade when you like, get all the new features (the longer you wait the better the value, you do not have to do it yearly, in fact you can often do it every 18 months an still never miss out on anything).jens wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 6:01 amNaaaah - Bitwig most obviously nonetheless has major releases.SLiC wrote: Wed Sep 18, 2024 9:45 pmIf it’s the Bitwig model there are no more major releases…just a steady stream of small upgrades….thats how it works.kidslow wrote: Wed Sep 18, 2024 8:33 pm What happens if you upgrade 11 months before the next major release, would the upgrade be included in your year?
