FWIW, you can hide the modulation panel with the button on the upper right, next to the settings button.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Tue Jun 16, 2026 11:55 am 2. The GUI is a busy, cluttered mess where tiny fonts and poor contrast abound.

I agree. If it's clear in a YouTube demo, it can only be more clear in person, but to me, that misses the point of something like this. If you want the very best of that sound, of course the hardware is going to be the way to go, but for me, the thing that make me want this is the GForce XMOD system, which if you don't know it, is a pretty amazing modulation system that lets you put modulation on basically everything. So, you don't buy this to replace a Prophet 10 rev4, you buy it to augment it with new possibilities. Or in my case, if you prefer the Prophet 6, which I own, and love, but sometimes want something closer to the Prophet 10 rev4 but don't have the space or funds for it. Once that plugin's been subjected to EQ, effects and compression, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference from the hardware, but I personally still like to have some hardware around. I just like it, even if it's not the most practical thing for constructing a good sounding track. Like I've mentioned previously, the last track where I put in a plugin synth as placeholder got kept that way, because it just sounded good to me and the hassle of replacing it seemed to be more hassle than any possible quality boost I might have gotten. I also like to use automation, which while possible on hardware, isn't nearly as easy as doing it on a plugin.Jim Roseberry wrote: Tue Jun 16, 2026 2:26 pmI've owned the Prophet 10 twice.Deisss wrote: Tue Jun 16, 2026 10:10 am So due to the vintage knob this is actually based on rev 4, which no one has emulated yet if I'm not wrong?
Interesting, I got a rev 4 here, will see if it's time to sell![]()
Sold only because it's not practical for using live.
Listened to Starsky Carr's comparison with the hardware Rev4.
I do think the Gforce plugin sounds good... but (to my ears) it's not as good sounding as the hardware. The hardware just has a little something more (more 3D or lively sounding).
tldr: Get a Prophet 10 rev4 and this plugin.

In a mix, none of you could tell the difference.

Trying it now, sounds amazing. I think it's my favorite dedicated Prophet 5 emulation, but now to just decide if it's worth having on top of Korg Multi/poly.

Comparing this to my Prophet 10 Rev4, and this is the closest emulation yet, according to my ears.
Its missing some lo-mid range but that could also be my A/D convertors. Impressive.

I find that the text for some values, such as those of the X-Modifiers, is too small and lacks contrast. I have trouble reading it even when enlarging the interface, although my eyesight is not poor. I would also appreciate an option to hide the keyboard in order to make better use of the interface space. Apart from that, I think this instrument is superb.

Does your A/D converter work like EQ by removing a huge chunk of the spectrum? Impressive!simmo75 wrote: Tue Jun 16, 2026 6:34 pm Comparing this to my Prophet 10 Rev4, and this is the closest emulation yet, according to my ears.

I just saw a YT vid where they had an actual one and the GForce connected by midi keyboard and you could not tell the difference. They never show the UI, though.

I find the GUI difficult to look at - too contrasty, and why the choice of hard lighting from an extreme angle? Just ugly and harsh looking to me. I wish there was a Gamma setting or something. Didn't GForce modify a recent synth after complaints about contrast? The Prophet 5 is such a simple elegant design and they didn't capture that IMO. Funkybot, I wish we could skin this one too! Well, maybe not. Ugh.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Tue Jun 16, 2026 11:55 am 2. The GUI is a busy, cluttered mess where tiny fonts and poor contrast abound.
I'm comparing this sound wise to Acustica Expanse-5 and I'm wondering if the Expanse-5 is an idealized version of the Prophet 5. It sounds "better" to me - richer and more hardware-like on the same OG Factory Presets, but maybe not as accurate as this new Prophet 5? My OCD is kicking in! Ha.
