I have performed what was suggested as a little test. The suggestion being "try a different application" I output a 24bit aiff in tracktion on my powerbook. It played back white noise as you suggested when previewing in the finder. I then switch over and used iTuens to play back the file and guess what? It played back fine.

I don't know why this was so difficult to at least try... :? it doesn't fix the problem with T's 24bit AIFF export. but if you need to preview 24bit Tracktion exported AIFFs, then itunes is capabale of playing them back.

I believe it was the "I don't follow the OSX stuff, and it's of little interest to me"... Or maybe "for anyone who can think without aid" comment...

:P

Yes, Inexplicably, ITunes will play a Tracktion 24 bit .aif file...

And I stated: "no .wav/aif .mpeg file I have ever tried to preview in the Finder wouldn't play" ...In fact, Tracktion 24 bit .aif files won't...

That's a wrap :!:

ok.. so lets go back one more time...
I haven't really been following this cos OSX stuff is of little interest to me, but I recall there being issues with AIFF files. It seems some apps can import Tracktion generated AIFFs and others can't.

Try opening it in a few different programs.
you got offended before the "for anyone who can think without aid comment." You got offended by the fact that OSX issues don't really interest valley.. even tho his suggestion was a valid one... and even tho he acknowledged that he recalled there being problems with AIFF export.. which is also true. Seems to me, he was simply speaking the truth... and you got offended over nothing... and lets not forget, it didn't get "personal" until you stated...
Your "mac attitude"... is getting a little tired. How about you just work with the PC people and let us "muddle along" by ourselves, eh?
the word "your" making it personal. You threw the frist puch, but you are played victim throughout this thread. You got offended by the fact that he said he would concentrate on helping PC users, when YOU were the one who told him to do so ... first. Your logic is very flawed in all of this. The right thing would be to admit you were wrong and appologize for blowing it all out of proportion... and before jumping the gun next time... actually read what is written and maybe, just maybe.. try what is suggested.

please DHR53 just admit that you flew off the handle here. what valley said was in no way personal or demeaning; "I haven't really been following this cos OSX stuff is of little interest to me" doesn't hold any kind of mac attitude whatsoever; if i were to have noticed something to do with MOTU DP - which i have no interest in at all - yet i felt i could offer some assistance, i would say something similar; the help offered was not necessarily related to Tracktion, and is for an OS that valley doesn't follow. yet he offered a suggestion.

you're way off base with this
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

I think everyone involved could have behaved better in this thread. I'm not gonna point out specifics but there was mud slinging from both sides. How about a hand shake and a clean slate?

I overreacted for sure... But his reply: "did I not just answer that" has a smugness that really annoys me... especially when a lot of stuff either doesn't work, or there is no explanation from anyone as to why it doesn't work?

...Sorry :(

I recommend you take responsibility for your own behavior and let valley own up to his, if he so chooses. I have to say this 'he acted like a 2 year old first' stuff is pretty lame.

He did come off a bit patronizing/insulting IMO  But that's subjective and I'm not saying that was his intention. Words typed on a page don't reflect 'mood' very well. But if DHR53 perceived that was the case, and valley chose to apologize for giving that impression, then I would respect that. My point is DHR53 should just apologize for his own behavior independent of whatever valley's fault in the argument may be (if any).
