But it’s not the same experience as using an accurate model of specific historic pedals.

And it’s a strange position for a developer to have to take, to tell people to just ignore 99% of their software because, yeah, it’s no good.

Anyone know if its possible to transfer presets / tonex captures from your desktop system to your iphone or ipad? This is not possible with Amplitube but wondering if Tonex is different.

Any of the models from the Mac/PC version you have registered will work with the iOS version, as well as any you can get from ToneNET.

Any of the models from the Mac/PC version you have registered will work with the iOS version, as well as any you can get from ToneNET.

Do I have to manually re-download them on both devices separately? Or can I file transfer between the devices offline? If this can only be done online, do I have to browse the full tonet or is there some sort of "user" area where I can choose which profiles I've already downloaded on my computer to also download on my iPhone?

What about saved presets? e.g. on my laptop I make my own tone by combining a different amp and cab profiles, dial in my settings with Gain, EQ, Compression, Reverb, etc and save it as a preset on my desktop. Can I share this to my phone?

Basically I can see myself writing music in the studio and downloading MANY tonex profiles, which is fine on my desktop when writing. I could then see me making my own presets that I use for specific songs and saving them as presets. Is it now possible to transfer only these profiles/presets that I used in songs to my iphone for playing out?

Also another question Peter if you dont mind. Right now generous people are uploading profiles of amps freely to Tone.net which is AWESOME!! And lets say I downloaded one of them and used it in a song. I did not create this profile, so I have no control over it beyond downloading it into tonex software and tweaking it.

Now, lets say this user later decides to make this a paid profile, rather than free. Can they remove it from Tone.net? If so, does this in anyway effect my ability to use it in Tonex? Will it forever be in my tonex account? Will I be able to download it to my iphone or laptop or any other device in the future or am I now stuck? Or worse, will it be removed from all my devices when the profile is removed from Tone.net?

As someone who writes music in the studio and wants to be able to call up the sounds used on the album for live performance, answers to the above questions are paramount if I dive into this system. With Amplitube there are no worries about not being able to use the sounds I come up with in Amplitube as long as I keep the current version of the software, and at that point its a choice I make to either update it or not (e.g. I still use Amplitube 4 for older songs and it works fine!)

I did this once myself: deleted some old captures.

What happens is this: nothing. If a user had already downloaded those captures, they keep them. No change. They just wouldn't be able to re-download them if they lost their library and didn't have a backup.

However: I believe the captures do get stored in the preset, so even if you ran into that situation, the preset would still recall when opening the song later on.

In short: nothing to worry about. You're covered!

Thanks Funkybot! So I guess the main question I have left is if its possible to transfer select saved presets from the Tonex app on my macbook and use them on my iPhone. If this is possible I'll be buying a an iRig HD 2 as a gateway into using Tonex live, and depending on how that goes may spring for the Tonex Pedal down the road. But if its not possible to load presets from my macbook to my phone I'll have to rethink if the iRig HD is worth it.

Also since you seem very knowledgeable, is it possible to load tonex presets (not profiles, but actual presets with EQ, etc) into tonex in amplitube? If so I cant seem to figure out how, as the Load Model Preset is greyed out (see picture)

I can get to all the same parameters of tonex with the noise gate block, compressor, EQ,reverb etc. by clicking the edit knob, but that means I have to re-create the preset again from scratch. Also there doesnt seem to be a way to mix and match amps and cab profiles inside Amplitube like you can in Tonex, only turn them on and off, and there is no "Tonex Cab" to be able to load cab profiles from Tonex, which is a bummer. Was hoping to get around this by using tonex presets in amplitube but it doesnt look like this is possible?

Hopefully these are just growing pains of a new platform and will be addressed at some point, but wanted to double check that I'm not missing anything. Thanks!

IK just needs to redo the VIR cabs with Machine Modeling instead of IRs. That would be the best of both worlds.
