When does Amplitube 3 come out?

Post

amplitube thread starters are my hero.

Post

Some of you getting the wah wah automation issue in AT2 ? lot of steps in sound....it become wah useless under automation playback

for reference here is my last quote about...full post at

Jazzguitar wrote:wonder if some of you has tried wah wah automation in amplitube 2 stomp section under Cubase SX, Nuendo, Sonar, etc. wah wah playback under automation get annoying zippering or stroboscopic stepped audio in cubase sx3. The weird is this doesn't happen in recording process, wahwah does sound right under mouse motion at automation data recording but subsequent playback is bad. I try min and max values in automation reduction level on CubSX preferences, record on 24 and 16 bit, different latency values in my M-audio Delta 44 setup but nothing seem fix that. The ugly noise still even in final rendered audio. First time I get such thing on my cubase automation tasks. It could be great If some of you can make test on wah wah automation and told us about.

Ouch...what a dissapointment. I just heard from some sources that there are no immediat plans to do midi controls via the standalone AT2, other than the StompIO.

So I go to read a bit about the stompIO and I find still very few details.

Four questions, mainly for Squids (or anybody that knows the answers):

1) Will the StompIO work with other software besides AT2? I mean, will it function like a standard sound I/O board (with ASIO)? What about Midi CC? Will I for example be able to control Guitar Rig ( Midi learn functionality ) with StompIO?

2) How are the AD/DA convertors? comparable to high end sound interfaces?

3) How is latency like with ASIO?

4) *When will it be released? ;)

Thanks for your replies.

And AT2 still crashes energyXT.
Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks.

I can confirm that I don't have this problem.

No problems here too! Works like a charm with the VST effect version of energyXT.

Squids, any reply on that?

Sorry I have been busy preparing for NAMM. It's going to be awesome by the way! Got some surprises in fact both on the SR side and on the IK side too! ;) :D :D :D :o

But, on the Stomp IO... yes, I know this one is highly anticipated and there's a wait. I don't know when it will be released but I know it is taking some time because the engineers want to get it just right and also perhaps even went overboard on really cool features for the guitarist, particularly in preset management but...well it takes as long as it takes I guess! There isn't anything else like it.

As far as the sound of the AD/DA it is in my opinion and others a superior sound for guitar than a lot of the half rack type interfaces. In fact it was compared with some A/B tests with some of them (don't to mention which because maybe IK has a lot of bundles with interfaces and I have to be careful knocking them too hard on this). The Stomp IO was BEEFIER and had more guts to it. This isn't just from AD/DA though. It has to do with the console grade circuitry that is in there. This is an aspect of interfaces that is often missed but if you think about it a lot of inexpensive interfaces could cut some costs in this area. One thing I admire about the IK engineers in Italy is their pride in the musical sound of modeled gear. One of the guys used to fix consoles and was even fixing one from Abbey Road studios once where the EQ for T-RackS was modeled from. He knows how to pick great components to get a better sound. So Stomp IO benefits from this. I suppose other companies may know too but perhaps it just costs more to get that stage to sound good.... worth it though! So, the Stomp IO makes a REALLY nice DI at the front end of your computer.

Latency from what I know is as low as it can be. The drivers are at the kernel level (did I say that right?) and it is fast.

From what I understand it will also act as a general purpose audio/midi interface. In fact, this is one thing that I am excited about being a keyboardist that plays some guitar too... to use it for keyboards as well is nice. I'd like to assign switches and expression pedals to my midi gear so believe me I requested this hardcore. I don't think there will be any template set ups for Guitar Rig or anything but you most likely can control anything that receives midi CC's. I will let you all know otherwise but it looks to be this way! I believe it would be the most powerful midi foot controller in that case.

Again, I don't know when it will be out. I only know it is a lot of work to get all aspects of it just right.

By the way, aren't there some work arounds to use the automation of some hosts to get the plug-in to be midi controllable in the meantime? It's not the same but it is something if you are impatient. When Stomp IO is out I think there will be a nice upgrade price for AT2 users.

Thanks for your reply Squids!

I am excited to see what is going to be announced at NAMM 2007. I hope the StompIO :)

My PODXTL is a very nice guitar interface but the latencies are a bit high for it to be used as a live ASIO interface.

Post

But, StompIO was announced Winter NAMM 2006. ;) No need to hope! As for the POD-- it has onboard DSP and zero latency. You must just be hearing the speaker from a few feet away and mistaking that for processing latency. ;)

The Pod does have latency though. I forget what it is but I actually think it's in the 6-9ms range. You could always hit up the Line 6 forums, people there will know for sure.
