maldomusica wrote: Mon Jun 06, 2022 9:58 pm Hi guys! What do you think about the Inflator $39 sale on PB. Is that plugin so good? Or can you finally replace Melda's Mwaveshaper?
If you use Reaper use RC Inflator. I own Oxford but for Reamixed used RC and my amateur ears couldn't tell the difference.
I use Studio One. I'm thinking about Inflator but It's not something that keeps me awake at the moment
you can use JS scripts in Studio One. Download and install the ReaPlugs suite (or just ReaJS), open ReaJS in S1, load any effect/preset within ReaJS, click "edit", then "open in external editor", save it with a new name (e.g., ReaInflator), delete all the code and paste the code from here: https://forum.cockos.com/showpost.php?s ... tcount=190

let me know if you need more detailed instructions

I saw that you can upgrade to Ozone 9 standard from Ozone Elements (Elements was free recently as a giveaway, can't remember where though) for $49 on Plugin Boutique website. I just may finally get it as I've never had the full version.

Looking for some advice regarding Neural DSP plugins. I am not a guitarist, but I do like to use sample-based guitar sounds in my music, mostly clean and muted sounds that don't have heavy rock/metal distortion. I currently have Guitar Rig Pro 6 and AmpliTube 5 for processing guitar sounds.

Does it still make sense to buy a Neural DSP amp plugin? I am only interested in and currently demoing "Archetype: Cory Wong" and really liking the tones, although I must admit that I haven't fully explored the possibilities of Guitar Rig and AmpliTube yet. So, half of me says I am fine with what I have and the other half wants to get Cory Wong.

Check out audio assault... They've even got a good free one.

I've got Cory Wong but really only use it for cleans with the auto wah.

My first choice for a clean amazing sound is always Archetype:Nolly. It has amazing sound and if you are in a hurry Nolly also have good presets.
My second choice is also NeuralDSP: Plini, and if I can't find a suitable sound at all, then amplitube.

I don't think that the Neural stuff will make a significant change in quality of sound to GRig or Amplitube if you just use it for sampled sounds (and know how to dial it in of course).
The difference for me is in realism or feel when playing and that the Neural stuff has a few very high quality effect out of the box (where I would use a separate e.g. reverb plugin when using the other 2).
If you don't really know what your doing when dialing in tone both GRig and Atube can be a bit overwhelming and confusing against the more limited Neural offers. + Neural imho has better sounding presets.

Thanks a lot guys, appreciate the inputs. :tu:

Unfortunately, Audio Assault didn't impress me much and it's not what I am looking for. I like Cory Wong indeed for the additional wah pedal.

Those sound amazing indeed. I downloaded the demos and while both are great, I think I like Plini a bit more. Both Plini and Nolly seem to have a more aggressive character compared to Cory Wong, even though some clean presets on them sound brilliant. I would really want to avoid getting carried away with these purchases, so I might give Cory Wong the first preference because of the additional wah pedal, which I really like.

Exactly. I really liked the simplicity of Neural DSP plugins, especially when it comes to getting a straightforward tone that you have in mind faster by just using the high quality presets and without too much fiddling around. Of course, GR6 and AmpliTube have great presets too, but I find Neural DSP plugins have a certain sound character that I really liked. I got a similar feeling synth wise when I tried Model 84 and 72 from Softube.

Wonder if Neural DSP have any good sales during this time of the year? Also, do they have any resellers or you can only buy through their website?

It's an interesting that as audio people how much we gravitate to the nicest looking interfaces. Neural DSP (aside from the massive overlap between theirdifferent plugins) sound good. So not knocking them. But take away the UI and I doubt they'd sound as good.

I'm no different. Just that as a guitarist of 30 years I can trust my ears when it comes to my guitar tone. But can I mix with Air Windows plugins 🤔😭 😂😂

Anyways a topic for another thread. Best of.

Neural did have a few sales but from what I can remember never more than ~$50 (+ half of that gets eaten up for the tax they put on on checkout (at least for me in GER)). - Cheapest would be waiting for someone to sell the stuff here on KVR.

Btw: Have you tried https://auroradsp.com/s Rhino ? They have a 14 day trial. - All the soundcloud demos are either too distorted or too effect driven for what you're searching for but I was able to get great clean-ish sounds out of it in no time when testing.

Gotta agree that a beautiful looking GUI makes the difference and is important so that you feel inspired enough to use it, because in software world, why not? Neural DSP plugins do have gorgeous GUIs, Cory Wong in particular looks very pretty to me and partly the reason I liked it.

I see, thanks for the information. I will be on the lookout here in case someone's selling Cory Wong (and others) for a good price. Not really in a hurry though.

No, I am not much familiar with guitar amp/effect plugins since it is not my main instrument. Sorry, but I would like to limit myself here and was only intending to get advice on Neural DSP stuff, and I appreciate your inputs regarding the same. :)

I paid €59.50 for Cory Wong in their sale. You'll not see much better than that 2nd hand because of the ilok transfer fee.

Post

Okay, thanks. Yeah, iLok transfer fee sucks big time! Was a little disappointed when I realized that these plugins are iLok based. :(

By the way, Cory Wong version 1.0 had an oversampling switch which is apparently not there in version 2.0. Or am I missing something?

EDIT: It's due to the newly introduced ATI algorithm.

I wouldn't spend more money on guitar amp sims if you already own Guitar Rig 6 and Amplitube 5! Especially as you aren't a guitarist and are going to use samples for the guitar parts anyway. Wouldn't you prefer to save money where you can? I dont see how Neural will make your mixes that much better. However, if you enjoy the feeling of owning Cory Wong tone and its interface, thats different. Wait for the next 50% off sale.

Overloud TH-U 60’s Pack us $41.65 in cart right now (https://www.jrrshop.com/overloud-th-u-60s-pack) and will give you a good range of clean to low gain sounds. Plus, it will give you access to all the other TH-U Rig Libraries. Silverface Collection, Midgain Monsters, and Vocs HW are particularly good for those sounds.

FWIW, the new standard for that kind of tone is the new Universal Audio Dream 65 pedal. Beats AxeFX, Kemper, everything. Maybe not worth using with samples but it’s pretty cool that that level of quality is now available for a relatively low price.
