I don't see a way to map controllers to the cab room mixer, which is one of the things I want to assign the most.

I would like to just say, for good or ill, that this is a typical IK release.

Unless you have an authorization code, it only gives you the four basic amps and free stuff from amplitube 3. And you can't mess with the settings of the new amp room. This is really the feature I wanted to try out the most, at least being able to dial in a tone would give me good reason to purchase it now..but I think I'll wait and watch youtube videos first.waltercruz wrote:I got Amplitube 4 CS on my User Area. What exactly is this? Can I load my Amplitube 3 presets normally, but I won't have access to the new Amplitube 4 cabinets?

You can assign those via MIDI, if that's what you are trying to do:braj wrote:I don't see a way to map controllers to the cab room mixer, which is one of the things I want to assign the most.

(I didn't change the CC# or anything but you get the picture)

And that picture suuuuucks. Just like controller setup in all IK products, it is like 10 years behind everyone else. It is tedious as hell. It would really be nice if you guys could address this huge elephant. It is an embarrassment.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:You can assign those via MIDI, if that's what you are trying to do:braj wrote:I don't see a way to map controllers to the cab room mixer, which is one of the things I want to assign the most.

If you look at A3, they allowed more controls to be accessed via the right click menu, including the cab room, the new mixer doesn't give this option, you have to go to midi mapping, add the control from yet another long nested menu, then map it. Many would assume like I did that it isn't available. It is inconsistent behavior. And a PITA. But at least the controls are available, I'll give it that. Just it is another head-scratcher, what were they thinking exactly?
AND I just tried it in Studio One, and of course it totally doesn't work there. Midi learn from A4 isn't seen by the host. Well, you can go add a CC number to a track, map that to a control, then map that control to an A4 control. But what a bunch of hoops to jump through in 2015!

Same amp. Same settings. Same cab - not one of the new Marshall ones, it was the 4x12 Closed Modern2 cab. Same microphones. As close as I can get with the microphone positions.

Anyone else here hearing "ticking noise" when moving the virtual mics and stands while audio passes?

MIDI learn would probably save a bunch of time for you and it is available in AmpliTube 4.braj wrote:If you look at A3, they allowed more controls to be accessed via the right click menu, including the cab room, the new mixer doesn't give this option, you have to go to midi mapping, add the control from yet another long nested menu, then map it. Except it doesn't work like it should. You have to make an automation channel in S1, set it to any arbitrary cc, map the controller to that, make the A4 control visible there, and then map the controller. Please go look at how other plugin's control mapping works. IKs implementation is a mess.
THat said, this is one aspect of the software, I'm not letting that dampen my appreciation for other parts, just it is quite unfortunate that IK seems to be so clueless in some areas.

The new cabs sound fuller I think, though to me a big change besides sound is the control I'm feeling, it is really easy to tune in the right levels, psychologically I do think the graphic niceties help usability here. It just feels way more satisfying.Amberience wrote:What are people thinking of it so far??

Clueless is a bit harsh. The automation and MIDI control work really well for many too, I understand it isn't optimal for your workflow but the people who create this software are far from clueless.

When I say IK I mean the organization, which though filled with talented dedicated people unfortunately like all companies still has its flaws. Someone should have demanded better. The good news is most of the plugin isn't as hard to map and I'll just make a DAW preset for it, problem solved for me. But it doesn't excuse that the corresponding controls in A3 were available via right click and now aren't in A4. IMO as a former software project manager, someone dropped a ball or two, these controls not being available to me was an error, I would consider it a bug, regardless of the fact I think the mapping system needs an overhaul. Anyhow, I said my peace, moving on. I mean no person slight against anyone at IK. It's not even like I am mad about it, nothing so drastic. It is just unfortunate.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:Clueless is a bit harsh. And thinking about it, I'll go log it as an issue on IK when I get back to a computer.
