ACID (All Cables In a Drawer) is a complete functional and aesthetic reimagining of the u-he ACE synthesiser.

It follows Swarm aesthetics and ergonomic approach.

Interesting. I really like the sound of ACE. Their best sounding plugin but yeah a bit complex. I am not good with synthesis. :)

Edit: I really like the original skin colours of ACE, though. Can't beat that.

I bought it, sold it, bought it again and still don't reach for it that often. I got a new skin for it at Christmas and hope it will inspire me to use it more often when I finally get it installed.

What do you think has been preventing you from using it?

I think Seafire Mk2 hit the nail on the head.

I don’t think I agree with best sounding. I prefer Bazille even just between the Modular’s. Always found ACE to be pretty bland. I guess I prefer the sharpness of Bazille digital oscs and fm.

Probably what would have served as an easier time with getting familiar with Diva is tutorials on emulating classic synths,
This is something considered in depth by authors, and some ideas I've seen presented are intuitive or obvious of course: layered complexity such as "beginner mode, intermediate, expert", with the pro being ease-of-access to core features but the con being "hidden complexity" where it's more difficult to learn.

Likewise, lessons aimed at educating via reference still face the hurdle of those experiences per se. You can't get to X.Y.z without first having X.Y, no way around it. So albeit we can idealize what may seem to us to be the optimal path, we MUST remain conscious of the Curse of Knowledge. We can never fully understand what it was like for us as a beginner, since we have the knowledge now we can't go back to being in a position where we did not have it. It isn't even possible to imagine what it was like, even if we attempt to learn something new these are all subjective judgements of relative difficulty and inevitably not true equals.

The harsh reality is that people do learn best "one step at a time", and that they ought to have the freedom to choose their own shoe size for themselves. After earning those blisters and bruises, they pick the right shoes or tool for the job.

Maybe it is also the name of the plugin and the color of skin, I mean who wants a diva in his plugin folder? I prefer having no headaches. Maybe I would even buy it with a different name, though.

In my view, if you are somewhat into synthesizers, and we are talking software synths...

So even if you do not like Diva, I mean you should really consider that it sounds beautiful, and is just a cool modern piece.

And...is not u-he's browser/preset system good, as well?

Remember it’s short for - Dinosaur Impersonating Virtual Analogue. 8)

Also Mona for Diva is great if you don’t like the look of the UI.

I find most discussions about the name... awkward... to put it mildly...

no sense of humor?
But a symbol or name affects the success of a product as the example of IKM showed that's why they changed it not implying that you would have to change anything , even though some people might not associate the term "diva" with something good; I assume Diva is one of the most popular softsynths anyway
The name of a product is so important that companies pay people to find an appropriate name for a product.

When it comes to misogynistic tropes... not really, no.

Are you trying to say that synths should preferably feature male names? If possible names that are reminiscent of villains, diseases, gods and super humans, sci fi lore or other symbols of masculinity?

Or maybe "Diva" is foremost associated with "complicated woman" rather than opera singers? I hope not because in my world it isn't. It's a trope with quite a bit more baggage than people commonly seem to know.

So no, Diva is a great name, and whenever somebody says otherwise I can't shake off the feeling that I might be dealing with, well, another cliche.

Like it or not, gay used to mean light-hearted and carefree. Then the word was hijacked and started to mean something else. In the online dictionery it even states that the original meaning is outdated.

gay
/ɡeɪ/
adjective
adjective: gay; comparative adjective: gayer; superlative adjective: gayest

1.
sexually or romantically attracted to people of one's own sex (used especially of a man).
"the city's gay and lesbian people"
h
Similar:
homosexual
queer
lesbian
lesbigay
LGBT
LGBTQ
GLBT
pink
lavender
homophile
Uranian
that way
h
Opposite:
heterosexual
straight
relating to or used by gay people.
"a gay bar"
2.
dated
light-hearted and carefree.
"Nan had a gay disposition and a very pretty face"

These days, the word DIVA is most commonly associated with difficult people. The original meaning is somewhat outdated.
Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.
