In the first page of this thread you find a link to the voting page. If you never voted before you must register with your e-mail address and KVR name, and also choose a password.
Yeah I attempted that but unfortunately registering my KVR name "? ? ?" seems to not work.
Ah well......such is life.
haha, oh man... maybe I can enable the ? lol... never in my wildest dreams would I imagine a username "? ? ?" ... that is an awesome name... but surely a painful experience

sorry guys, if I was allowed, I would give ALL my points to MeaKaale ..

so that's 71 x 5 = ... fetches calculator ... A LOT OF POINTS!

Haven't listened to all tracks now but .. that's track is hard, no I dare to say impossible to beat.

btw Melodrops "Warm Waves" is a thing of pure beauty.

Post

That's surely interesting rghvdberg because the MeeKaale track for this month is really not in my favourites.
Yeah I feel my musical preferences are on some other side.

One SYNTH Challenge or One SONG Challenge, that's the question ;-)

can we really judge objectively on the synth usage
without a huge bias from the artistic quality of the music strongly relating to our subjective taste and culture? <wink>

A tricky one ... I tend to review the synth and see what sounds I can make with it. Then, work up a few tracks/songs. Depending on genre I then go back and see how I can create JUST the right sounds for the track/song with said synth.

So for me, it's a bit of both ;-)

Voted. And realize I'll end in the lower half of the score again.

That's the creative process to make your entry, but I guess rob was referring to the preferences expressed with voting, since I replied with my difference.
My thought is that the more or less skillful synth usage doesn't weight that much on the outcome of the top five, our subjective musical taste and culture (intended as experience and provenience) weight much more. That shouldn't sound strange, <grin>, to musicians.

Post

Voted. Will comment everybody's track if I find the time.

Not enough time to finish mine this time. But I voted for you all. I hope it makes a difference for some of you.

Yeah, I understood. But for me the way I approach this as per above does lend some weight to the way I vote as well. I try to be objective, but necessarily, my musical taste does creep into how I vote! Very hard when I find it hard to "understand" the musical genre, although, with my 60 years of musical "appreciation" under my belt (ho ho!) I think I understand most, even if I simply cannot execute that genre.

Yeah, I appreciate what you say, I'm no so young either,
but there are even more subtle subjective preferences,
sound timbres that resonate well with our own unique psyche, other sounds which are "rejected",
like smells or colours that can be pleasant or revolting according to our own sensitivity or experiences.
After many years of musical experiences I'm quite convinced that the universality of musical language is still vastly relative. <grin>
