From what I've read it seems that "Zebra 3" is basically a brand new synth built upon the features of other synths besides zebra 2/dark zebra. This doesn't sound like a typical upgrade but a massive overhaul with new tech and design
If that's true then no one is entitled to an upgrade path and those of us who are getting it are lucky

I think it would be fun to vote on and put together a community favorites list out of this massive amount of presets. Does that seem like a cool idea to anybody else? I'm not sure the best way to conduct it...

As a related question, Urs and crew ... thank you so much for this generous gift.
This Zebra library is an advanced degree in synthesis for us to study. Is it possible to search out patches which use particular modules? (comb, fold, etc.)

We (u-he Zebra old users) don't have just luck. Again: We did our fair share by investing in the whole thing.faultyline wrote: Thu Nov 17, 2022 5:59 pm From what I've read it seems that "Zebra 3" is basically a brand new synth built upon the features of other synths besides zebra 2/dark zebra. You bought something that clearly stated on the website and multiple other sources for months on end that it won't have an upgrade path to Z3 and now you whine about why you are not entitled to the upgrade path. Who's fault is that?soundof wrote: Thu Nov 17, 2022 11:54 amDue diligence? What a poorly programmed BOT you are! You think I'm buying a company! Silly boy! What's with all the a**-kissing on this forum!darkinners wrote: Thu Nov 17, 2022 3:42 amThe information is out there, is your job to do the due diligence and look for them. Do you expect U-he and other companies to send spam emails and knock on each door to everyone in all corners of the world and tell them all of their company news?soundof wrote: Wed Nov 16, 2022 5:57 pm It's incredible how so many are triggered on here because of a very logical question, logic has escaped a few it seems! Getting so defensive about "value for money" bla bla bla! No doubt U-He will generate a number of new sales because of this offer, and specifically because of this offer for Zebra Legacy, and the only reason I bought it was because of the price! I don't care how many preset banks are offered or how much they were previously, it's about the cost right now of the package, it was to entice people to purchase it, it worked on me as I'm sure it'll work on few more!
I wasn't even aware that v3 may be coming out soon as I haven't followed the U-He exclusive news, seems the U-He official support forum is here and I found this out today!
I think all U-He products were 50% off last year via Native Instruments, I suppose by the silly arguments made here about value for money, those customers will not be entitled to the same upgrade path as those who paid the full price!
Remember, this is software, the code has already been programmed, they're not doing anything extra for me or the next customer, not like a physical product! Just a case of automatically sending me the registration details.
I have purchased lots of plugins over the years, vast majority on sale as I am a sucker for sales, but I could have gone by without getting Zebra (this VST is from 2003 I believe) as I have for all those years, but I sent some money to U-He because of this specific offer, I wouldn't have bought it at full price, else I would have done it by now considering it's age!
I do not need to get the upgrade to v3 as I am sure the current version will carry on working for years to come, but surely it's logical that a reasonable upgrade path is made possible for all Zebra owners, not just some! If not, it should be on the product page that no product upgrade path is available for Zebra Legacy owners, not on the news page, not any forum, right where the button to add to cart or top of the page for the Zebra Legacy product which is where most people will likely end up when they see the offer!
I saw it on the main KVR News page, clicked on the link, then clicked on Zebra Legacy on the U-He website and bought it, no mention of no upgrade path anywhere on that page!
Ever heard of a loyalty discount? You only think for yourself, don't make it sound like it's some justice or logical bs.
Because on the flip side, the other side of the people can also argue, why I should support this company at full price when the new customer can get the same or even better deal than the loyal customer been supporting u-he for ages.
Please stop all this whining.
I got a life, I am not on here checking the latest development, I see a deal online, if I like it, I get it as I've done multiple times!
As it's software, there is pretty much always an upgrade path, and if U-He do not allow an upgrade path, at least the product page should contain that information and not to be sneaky about it, as vast majority will not be going through forums and news articles to find this out. All they have to do is add one line, top of the product page or near the "add to cart" button, at least that way, the buyers would be aware and can decide for themselves!
This would leave a bad taste in the mouth for new U-He customers, personally, I'm not that bothered, but it's about principles!
I bought Knif Audio Knifonium for $29, but it's selling for $299 now, I am still entitled to an upgrade when one becomes available, if there is a version 2 that is, no restriction as such!
Black Friday coming up, lots of sales, some have started already, any company that is sneaky and doesn't have the limitations specified on the product page is very sneaky, misleading and could actually harm their reputation!
You want discounted upgrade path? how about this?
People who bought Zebra 2 + ZebraHZ + soundset paid something like 600+ EUR and will receive Z3 for free.
You paid 99 EUR for Zebra Legacy and if you want Z3 when it came out. you will probably pay 300 EUR for it.
So you only need to pay 399 EUR instead of 600 EUR.
See? you got what you are asking for. you got a good deal and an excellent upgrade path.
Happy now?

I can't get the presets to load into Zebra. When I drag them into the finder window they don't show up anywhere in the Zebra presets list or in the user folder. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

They are all so good(!) but I especially like that so many of them have (semi secret?) value added MSEGs and Oscillator Wavetables. Maybe it's because I've had it longer ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but Zebra is feeling a bit easier for me to take apart and 'reverse engineer' sounds than U-He instruments I only got more recently… in any case with all new added HZ features begging me to play with them… I still have barely auditioned enough of the sounds to categorize & choose faves.
Meanwhile some of them like "I AM ZEBRA" still have me scratching my head wondering how Team u-He got that sample playing in there?

It's not sample, it's a crazy use of automated formants, I can't imagine the time to set it up.petedako wrote: Fri Nov 18, 2022 2:23 am Meanwhile some of them like "I AM ZEBRA" still have me scratching my head wondering how Team u-He got that sample playing in there?

You sound very rude and ungrateful. U-he is really throwing everyone a bone here with legacy, and honouring their upgrade statements they've made before. You had lots of time to think on it and make an action but you missed it. They said what they were going to do a long time ago, and they did it.soundof wrote: Thu Nov 17, 2022 11:54 am Due diligence? So while we're all waiting for Zebra3; legacy or not, why not get to cracking out some cool presets with one of the best synths in the world?

Any chance of the Zebra 2 presets being compatbile or convertable to 3 ?

The chances are very limited. Many core modules have been reworked from scratch with different parameter sets and different parameter ranges. It won't be possible to apply settings 1:1 beyond maybe some very simple patches.SonikHorizon wrote: Fri Nov 18, 2022 12:52 pm Any chance of the Zebra 2 presets being compatbile or convertable to 3 ?
