Oh just saw you mentioned that, yeah either their developers are lazy af or don’t actually exist and only brought in on a temp contract basis for specific jobs,
Yep :)
The arp they have added in the Juno 60 and the Jupiter 8 are horrible and useless compared to the rest of their plugins.

Even their Latest one The Jupiter 4 has a good arpeggiator which i just noticed after a reinstall of my cloud plugins now so not sure why they choose to put those crappy arps in those 2 i mentioned.

So i was wrong in that all the newer plugins has a crappy arp since they did it the right way with the Jupiter 4.

It's cool as it is they have done PLAY4Life they really havent added anything since I stooped subscribing 18 month ago (an that was why I stopped subscribing)
I think the Juno 60 sounds a little darker.
I agree, It sounds a little darker and a little bit more punchy.
You can change between the Juno 60 and Juno 106 in the Juno 60 plugin but the Juno 106 plugin is only a 106.
When doing so it changes the HPF Filter to 106 mode while the LPF Filter, envelopes and the Oscillators stays the same but it gives you more bass in the 106 mode when hpf is set to Zero.
The 106 has a much better arpeggiator than the new and simple arpeggiator they are adding to all their new vst's that is set to 16th notes without any way to change it.

When it comes to sound i prefer the 60 but i wish they gave us the arp they use in the 106 or their older vst's like System-1 with scatter options.
Thanks for that both…doesn’t sound like there is much point buying both (using 2 licences), trying to justify the ultimate subscription!

Is the play 4 life thing worth it ? Like do the lifetime licenses ever go sale or is this the best time if you're looking to get something (or potentially something they may or may not release like a JP8000) ?

I ups say there are a few worth owning for sure and 199 to own 2 and a year of everything is fair.

Happy to help :tu:
I agree that you don't need both but it is important to try them both to find out which one you like the most since you might like the more hifi fizzy 106 compared to the slighty darker 60 sound :)

Also remember to not enable the Optimize for lower cpu usage option on the Juno 60 plugin since it makes it sound like crap (Especially the Sub osc on lower notes).

I second this. While I might not pay $199 for one of their plugins...being able to have access to everything for a year is worth $200 FOR SURE...the bonus is getting two free plugins when you renew (up to 10). Along the way throughout the year I buy preset packs and such so that one day I will just already own everything, and keep a free sub to access my stuff.

But I also own a Fantom and a TD-27 kit so it is worth something to stay connected to me.

Supplimental question - I see that Pro is $99 - do you know what the total price in pounds? Sometimes VAT gets added
Hey ChamomileShark! Play 4 Life will auto-renew 4 times after the first year. Meaning you can have Play 4 Life for up to 5 years and acquire 10 instruments with an Ultimate Membership, or 5 instruments with a Pro Membership.

I don't know what the total is in pounds. Let me do some digging and I can get back to you tomorrow about this! :phones:

Examigan wrote: Thu Nov 23, 2023 10:07 pm If Zenology Pro was included as a choice I'd go for it.
Hey there SLiC and Examigan! I've seen a few people ask for this already with this round of Play 4 Life. I haven't heard anything about making ZENOLOGY a part of it, but I'll definitely bring it up with the team the next chance I get. We are always down to re-examine what we offer in our promotions and deals. :)

Thanks for the reply, Jon. Fascinating points about the history of Roland sound design (videos are also interesting, but like others here I've seen those before.)

Just wondering, was WoodyPianoShack correct in saying that some of the Zenology patches/presets are SuperNatural ones? If so, where amongst all the groups/banks are these to be found? (I am guessing not the XV ones, since these are XV5050 type presets?)
ZENOLOGY offers a lot of the same sounds found in superNATURAL instruments in our wave expansions and other various sound packs by using PCM technology. But as far as I know, there are no direct cross over patches between superNATURAL instruments. But I could be mistaken.

Great questions!

@ Jon. thanks. It's £103 I think, I got the auto-renew message.

Oh boy here we go again...except I'm not going to post the VP330 this time around :hihi:

Actually I wish Roland would do a software version of this:

https://www.boss.info/it/products/rc-505mk2/

There's probably a market for a realtime looper-frippertronics-multitrack-tape emulation. the closest thing I can think of is Enso by Audio Damage, which I love and...Nothing else?

How about both…
Clock is ticking… Absolutely nothing new released this year so far…
There’s got to be something other than new soundpacks… is there..?

Equally it will continue once you hit 10 P4L lifetime keys, you just won’t get any further lifetime keys unless Roland get rid of that stupid and outdated rule.
 :-x

Really, Roland? OMG.

When I subbed, life happened and I wasn't able to make music for most of the year.
So frustrating!

Sub at your own peril.
