Simply route some tracks to another track instead of an output, and you have a sub-group. Easy, but lets you do everything a traditional mixer would and more..

yep..I got Cubase SX and like it..but I sill use T2. One reason, the MIDI sync is great on T. In Cubase, it slowly gets worse and worse until I restart the program. doesn't make sense, and I tried all the steinberg fix suggestions. I fear the same problem will occur in Nuendo, since it's also a Steinberg product. I noticed that once you get used to Tracktion's way of mixing, having to switch windows gets prety old.
What Nuendo/Cubase has over T is MIDI..no doubt, but with 3rd party software and knowledge of your sequencer, it's not as bad as people make it.
Also, I like the sound of Tracktion more then Cubase..maybe this is because I have a good way of summing in T..I don't. I use the 64 bit mix engine and copy a wav straight out of tapeit2. I then bring the 32 bit file into Ozone and Master at 32 bits...then dithering it down to 16. Maybe it's just the math of it all, but I get my bext mixes going about it like this.
So I disagree that Tracktion won't sound as good as other hosts.

I doubt that differences in bit depth especialy once we try going above 32bits make any significant difference in sound quality. No!!! (IMO) but it dose have a mixer
but if you can get it cheap/free then go get it!!
it is a really really cool app! but to CPU hungry for me to ever switch!!
maby if thay added some rack modula type shit, & the abbillity to copy active vst's to different tracks, or at least swap the order of them
& make there solo,s free up all the cpu from the other tracks & mute,s do the same, & let you freeze a bus, & lose the dongle, & drop there price to £150 thay would get my cash

I agree there..basicly, I like the "sound" of tracktion because there is no sound really..I just bypass that step and go straight to 32 bit wav. So when someone says Nuendo or cubase sounds better or whatever, I disagree, because like you said..your mix style and workflow really determines that..but to eliminate any doubt, I come out of T with a file that was captured straight out of the 2 bus, and not "mathed" down to 24 bit.
That is where the audiophile argument begins, so I just bypass it.
