Yep - that is correct for Ivory. Muse installs Ivory, you send Synthogy your reg number (and Receptor Machine code), and Synthogy sends you an authorization. You type-in the authorization, and Ivory is up and running.

Regarding the PC, I use a 'shuttle PC' (a small footprint PC) that I primarily use for testing PC VSTis, before I load them on to the receptor. If you are a gadget-freak, and are constantly searching for new PC plugs to load on Receptor, this is a great way to go. Typically any mid-powered PC with an ASIO sound card is good for this.

Other people may not feel this need to do this - they may only occaisionally add VSTs. They may also wish to keep their Receptor as clean and stable as possible (eg. for gigging / touring).

In any case, you aren't required to have another Mac / PC to use Receptor - but if you wish to always explore new unsupported VSTi's, it helps to have a spare PC.
