Hi

I'm sitting here and thinking about my receptor and real life.

I like to use stylus rmx 1.5.1 and have wait
for the up date since I got it (7 month ago)
The last update is from: 8 nov 2005.
every time I got the answer: WE ARE WORKING ON IT !!

I am a komplete 2 user and have B4II,pro53,fm7,absynth3,kontakt2,kompakt and
battery 2 on my receptor.
I upgrade to komplete 4 so I could get elektrik piano and acustic piano and the other NI komplete upgrades and again : WE ARE WORKING ON IT !!

I really need a elpiano so I look at plugorama and found LL3 (receptorized).
I buy it do the crossgrade (300 dollar).
then install it and WHAT!! IT WILL NOT PLAY AFTER I TURN THE RECEPTOR ON AGAIN????
iTS THE SAME WITH LL2.
Last update 10 may 2006.

And its here I am beginning to lose my faith in you muse.

I can't understand how you can have a receptorized plugin thats not working as you describe on plugorama.

so here I am with software for about 700 dollars I can't use.

So please help me here

jottesen :(

I use my receptor for live use, organ/elpiano/synth for keyboard and battery/kontakt/stylus for MALLETKAT EXPRESS :(

So there you are, you cannot use the fake Electric piano you want. So, the universe may be telling you to use SOMETHING ELSE. A pair of rubber things, a big stick on the bottom of a garbage bin, a real melodica, like, whatever.

So, like, maybe Muse doesn't care that much if this functionality ever gets fixed? So, like, maybe that's the message for you...forget the piano and use all the OTHER STUFF you have now. It's soooo like, the piano will disapoint you anyway! It looks like the more (so) worked up you'll get the less you'll want it when it (one day) does get fixed and let you load it. Don't let it hold you back any longer!

So, good luck and better music without the thing you don't really need.

Slerbo, your sarcastic reply doesn't belong in THIS forum. Unlike much of the rest of KVR, the Receptorized folks here are genuine, mostly professionals, and enjoy helping one another. And for the most part we have a lot of time/energy invested in a product we believe in. In other words, get lost and go Troll some other forum with the rest of the kiddos.

Jottesen, I feel your pain and I am loosing faith as well. One look at Plugorama's "latest updates" list tells the story. It's sad and frustrating. The only thing worse than the slow progress is the lack of communication with us customers. I, like you, am frustrated and hope this will improve.

BTW: When I upgraded to K3 I asked NI for a standalone license for EP and they gave it to me for the Receptor. Same thing with K4 and Acoustik Piano. It took them a long time to respond and I had to talk to several people, but they did it. Send an email to sales and explain the situation and you might get lucky like me. EP is worth it. AP is just "ok" ;-)

You're quite right, my sacastic reply doesn't 'belong' in here. Perhaps I overplayed my abhorrance to the overuse of the word 'so' as an icebreaker -and I'm not really a troll at all.
I want to see the receptor guy 'in pain' forget about worrying when the piano will work with it, as it's been my pain to fret and frown about software/hardware for too long, and I finally realised it was a waste of energy when 'music' did not care if I had what I wanted gear-wise or not. If you want to make music it'll happen the right way when you're ready anyway, even without an electric piano plugin (not that there's anything wrong with them, for god's sake!).

While it's neccessary to bug the makers to get your money's worth, I don't think anyone should lose sleep over a function of software that will just not work without alot of effort from programmers..you know, it might happen and it might not! It's really very annoying for you, I know. But we should be musicians when we can, not feeling like we should look over the shoulder of stressed code monkeys who can't understand their users anguish. Maybe they hate electric piano? Really, 'don't let it eat you up any longer', that was just my rude message. They will fix it, but by then you shouldn't even care!

Why hang out here worrying ? (and look 'Hybernation' matey, I'm off for good now!)..go and have fun with the other stuff while you can! you might make some truly great music by restrictng your sources.

Post

Hey Slerbo,

For someone that isn't a troll, you do a good job playing the part. The point isn't to "go have fun with your other stuff while you can!"...for some of us, it is imperative that when we spend $700.00 (and triple that for the hardware) we are able to get some work done, when our professional careers depend on it.

Besides that, who in the hell wants to hear that you "might make some truly great music by restricting your sources" here in the RECEPTOR forum? Doubtful that any of us would own these boxes if we wanted to restrict our sources...

While I do understand the shut-up and make music principle, when a colleague is struggling with their equipment, that isn't a lecture that they need to hear.

Goodbye, troll. "Code monkeys?" rofl. Nice.

Post

THis fool obviously is not a real musician, he doesn't get it. I have spent 50 YEARS learning my craft, and I'm still only playing 1/10th of what I can hear. Sound is OMPORTANT to the music (if you don't think so, take you rbest midi sequence and give the lead instrument over to the Windows GM version...

As a professional who has played most of the major jazz venues - Payboy Jazz Festival, Newport Jazz, Montreaux, Carnigie Hall, etc. I can assure you that sound is an integral part of hte musical experience. If the timbre of an instrument is not right, the feel is wrong, and if the feel is wrong, the MUSIC is wrong. The proper instrument for the proper track - end of story.

When I purchaed this box, it came with plugins already installed. Even though they were not the current release, they were on the box, and they therefore, by definition, MUST WORK CORRECTLY! If they donot, then our trust has been abused, and I would personally consider it fraudulent, false advertising.

Some people are just too stupid to bother - ye who have ears to HEAR, let them HEAR. Ye without have NO business trying to tell the competent among us how to do their job and creat their art.

Oh, I guess I'll go paint a picture of the sky now - oh wait, I'm out of blue, I'll just have to use red. WHat's the difference...

Let's be careful that we don't let the trollhunt take attention away from the OP's point, which is something which has been bothering me for a long time now. I'd hate for any Muse Research employees who showed up here (unlikely though that seems at times) to feel that the troll managed to distract us from the pivotal issue here, which is our seeming abandonment by the company in which we invested very heavily.

I would like someone from Muse to say one of the following categorically:

(a) we are in financial trouble, and can't afford to hire staff, so our work on making plugins Receptor-compatible is painfully slow

(b) we are concentrating all our efforts in making Receptor .001% better in it's next update, rather than do what our customers actually want, which is MAKE SOME OF THESE PLUGINS WORK!

(c) we are working on things which will help us sell more Receptors, rather than making sure our actual customers are satisfied with their purchase

(d) we are bored with this forum, and have to force one of our employees to make an appearance every now and then

(e) it's much harder than people think, getting plugins to work, and we're sick of people hassling us about it, so we don't give it high priority

From my point of view, I'm very disappointed in whoever's making the business decisions at Muse Research. There's no doubt they have some great staff, because those we have the very occasional access to here have been really nice, passionate people. At this point, I genuinely think it's one of the first three options I listed above, in which case, whoever makes the decisions at Muse is making the wrong decisions, and should be sacked.

Sorry about the long post, but I'm venting some of the frustration I've felt for quite some time now.

Cheers,

I really feel for everyone that can't use their favorite sounds. I'm sorry I invested in a Receptor and I'm ready to dump this thing - even after spending the money on the upgrade. Some of us have been asking for this plug since November 2005. http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... sc&start=0

Wow, really sorry to see this, I have always viewed Receptor as such a Flagship piece of gear.

This sort of thing can damage a companys credability.

I cant afford one, but have thought about how great it would be if I could. My opinion is now changed.

I would be fuming if I had $700 worth of gear that I couldnt use.

Good luck guys, I hope Muse redeem themselves.

In their defense, perhaps it might be sensible to establish some sort of "Receptor-compatible" or "Receptor Edition" program for plug-in manufacturers, or at least the illusion of some sort of ongoing effort to acknowledge that Receptor development a) exists, b) issues with plug-in compatibility are being addressed, in conjunction with plug-in manufacturers, and c) that the product will not go down the same route as, say, the last E-mu hardware products.

I, for one, have been waiting for Reaktor for some time, and have waited to upgrade my Receptor pending some sort of sense of where Muse Research is with the Native Instruments plug-ins, and, the future in general.

This situation kinda reminds me of the days before Waldorf went under, when Creative ditched their hardware, and a whole host of situations whre dedicated end-users had to decipher the writing on the wall that one of their favorite companies was breathing its last.

Please guys, don't get frustrated! As a sometimes "code monkey" I think I can offer another possible scenario that is far more positive than any given above:
Lots of plugs come along and require tweaks in either the plug, the installer, or the Receptor software. Sometimes these tweaks are bigger than anyone would like. The Muse guys could address each one in turn and perhaps incrementally release each plug, but they'd be doing this until the next millenium and never be able to work on anything else but chasing their tweaking tail.
So my hypothesis is that they're working on something bigger - a way to address the needs of all these plugs, and maybe all future ones as well, in one broad stroke - a big solution that fixes the problem once and for all. Of course, this big fix requires a lot of work and will, by definition, make the guys invisible for a long time.
Sometimes you gotta take the high road. That's just my two cents.

Actually, I meant to list that as a real possibility, and I really hope you're right. However, it doesn't change one thing, and that is the lack of communication from their side to ours. If they ARE working on something along those lines, TELL US, and we'll stop hassling! You don't even have to give us a release date - just SOMETHING!!!

I remember the early days of DigiDesign (somewhere around '85/'86) when just recording and editing stereo waveforms on a $3,000 Mac SE/30 (about the speed of a Treo Smartphone : ) with Sound Designer was fraught with danger. Being a freelance consultant at the time, I remember demo-ing one of the early versions of Pro-Tools at LucasFilm. At the the time they kind of looked at me like ... "Are they really going to be able to make this stuff work, and are we going to be able to make movie with this"? What was the bleeding edge then is now common.

One thing that helped in the early days was a guy, ( I think his name was Chris Now.)Chris was a "The buck stops here" kind of guy where you could report bugs and or bring your defective hardware and Chris would see to it that it got fixed...)

Some time later down the road there was a point in time where stuff wasn't getting updated fast enough, and a friend and I were so upset with our systems not working right that one day we were on the phone totally dogging them out.

Then, I remember thinking to myself "this isn't very constructive" and saying to my friend... "Let's pray for them!" So we did! It was good way to do something positive with all that frustrated energy and well, the rest is history! <Big Grin>

So for those who believe in prayer, what if we started to pray for Muse? I'll be the first, and if you're so inclined you can join in...

"Lord, thank you for the incredible, gifted, creative people at Muse and their willingness to be inventors and pioneers. Lord, please give them the wisdom, insight, time, resources and energy to make Receptor work better than anyone even thought possible; that it could become a world class instrument that's even lighter, smaller, and more affordable than thought possible. Lord, let the people at MUSE know that their success is due to You. And Lord I thank you for each person that has believed in asown into MUSE by purchasing a Receptor. I pray that you would bless their investment in the future of music the way they love to make it. AMEN!"

Oh and PS... God, let it eventually be able to run everything... and (doing it in one rack space would be nice too! : )
