Will Cakewalk ever release a new version of Raputre?

I'd surely love to see a Z3TA 3... if they vamp up the synth engine, build in some new filters, and bring it a bit more up to date with the tech 2021.

I highly doubt that will happen though. I don't even know if the people who have worked on Z3TA 2 still work for Cakewalk/Bandlab, and, VSTi's don't exactly seem like cash cows, and they'd have to compete with the crème de la crème of soft synths out there.

I like Z3TA 2's architecture. In general, I wonder why wave shaping synths hold such a niche extistence. But, there's loads of better sounding synths these days, and, whenever I fire up Z3TA 2, it makes me wonder why I don't just boot up Sylenth1 or Spire instead. Z3TA's filter aren't really good (think harsh * 100), and the sound of the raw oscillators and the envelopes aren't that great either.

An upgraded Rapture Pro would be pretty cool too

I would have to say that the new Surge is probably better than any Z3TA 3 could ever be.

The former Cakewalk team developed Z3TA+2 without Rene, after he had left the company.

I have always found that the original Rapture had a special type of sound.

Here's a quote from Rene, that I suspect may be a clue to his genius:

"So what exactly IS rapture anyway?
Rapture will get the frequency spectrum of any sample you provide to it, and will re-synthesize it to get an oscillator which won't alias in the whole audible range out of it. It's not grabbing one cycle of a waveform and looping, no."

It's comparable as far as the sound and waveshaping. Z3TA gui wasn't the best either.

Those FM and VA hardware modules are so cool...

The original Z3TA was going to be ported over to hardware,but it didn't happen...

Fast foward to the 21st century and we have faster chips that require way less power and you can put a synth module in your pocket...

Everything Rene is involved with is inspiring and is powered by his genius,so it's exciting...

I left hardware a while ago,but I'd be interested in a crowd funding project for those synths because you just know that they would be killer

Yeah, it still sounds good after all these years. It could give a really "sharp" sound without sounding harsh.
