How can you tell what scales the supplied riffs are based on, since they only reference the key as one of the 12 root notes?

The dice feature in the Riffer lets you create random riffs. The key choices are the twelve major scale root notes, but then there are over 70 scale templates to choose from, and this is where you get to pick from major, minor, and many other modes...
The notes and octave of each riff are shown on each note of every riff.

The Dice feature is cool but,it needs to be worked on. The riffs it generates aren't always what a real bass player would play and a lot them are just weird. It would be cool if Dice was tied in with the Riff library(?) so we could use the info from a groove to create a fill and/or variations of grooves and fills. I want to be able to tell Dice what kind of riff I want, like, groove, fill, tapping etc... Dice needs more styles to choose from too(rock, disco,r&b,hard rock, blues rock, hip hop, country etc ...)

I bought the Metal Ray5 just for the Bass Riffer. If Bass Riffer were a plugin on its own,I would pay for it.Bass Riffer is great like it is but, with the right enhancements it could be awesome.

P.S. I plan on getting the Ample Sound P and Jazz basses asap.

I've been playing with Riffer a lot and reading this thread a little and just had another idea based on a suggestion somebody made about riffs following chords. When you open Riffer,on the bottom right there is a button for changing the root of a riff. When you click on it a drop down menu opens up letting you pick the root you want. It would be cool if that drop down menu included chords or with the root we could pick major/minor and the scale degree(I,ii,Iv,V etc...).

Yes like the Scale/Chord dropdown in the Dice.

Thanks for suggestions, we would like to think about that and definitely we will make it better in future versions.

Something like this (in the Dice also) so this Riffs in the Library will adjust to fit the set Chord/Key/Scale, and in the Chord Track Mode it will read the midi Chords of the Chord Track and what key/scale Ample is set to then adjust the notes being played of the Riffs on the track to fit Chord/Key/Scale.

I've been meaning to review the Ample Bass Precision for a long time but got side-tracked by other things. It's a fantastic bass in a nutshell and deserves more attention; and the riffer takes it to still a higher level.

Playing with the dice in the riffer, I want to change scale without creating a whole new riff. I just want to audition the same riff played in several different scales.
I haven't seen a way to do it yet. Can it be done?

I think the riffer is genius; are the random patterns really random, or do they come from the list of already created riffs?

Post

If the suggestion I posted in the previous post is implemented you should be able to do exactly that. Just as you can change the Key of a Dice Riff you should also be able to change the Chord/Scale.
If you look back a few pages at other post about RapidComposer, it should work in a similar way.

Thanks. I also tried Select All > Copy > Paste (to next starting note) to try to lengthen riff, but it didn't work.
I'd like to be able to append different riffs in succession on the grid.
I love the metronome slap on this.

Nice video. Now I need to see if I can use BIAB with Studio One the way you're showing it.

Yes we all want that.

RapidComposer is in VST mode, Biab should have ReWire soon so you can ReWire it with Studio One, or you can use ReWireVST http://www.energy-xt.com/index.php?id=0115 in RealBand if you have the Win version.
EDIT:
I can't remember if Studio One can be a midi clock slave as you can load midiOut http://www.thepiz.org/plugins/?p=midiOut into a Biab midi slot and use LoopMidi https://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/loopmidi.html

My musical background is blues, rock and metal(mostly blues and rock),I play guitar. I bought the AMR II just for the Bass Riffer,to help me write bass lines for my songs and get those bass lines into my daw. I just sat and worked out a couple of bass lines using Riffer and,it turns out Riffer is better than I first thought it was. Being able to create a bass line while looking at a fretboard and input notes with articulations on that fretboard, the way I would play it on a real bass guitar is awesome. Having said all of that,I have a couple of suggestions, the first has already be mentioned, having the option of major or minor on the transpose button with the root would be very helpful. Some keyboard shortcuts for the various buttons in the Bass Riffer would be great, maybe even a way to enter notes with a computer keyboard.Having the riff time signature got to 12/4 would help a lot too.

As I've mentioned,my use for Ample Sound basses and Bass Riffer is to write bass lines for my songs and drag them into my daw. So,I'll write my bass line, with AMR II in stand alone mode(sometimes) using Bass Riffer, save it,open my daw(Sonar Platinum),open AMR to the Riffer page, open the browser and drag my riff(s) onto my midi track. Some bass lines are based on chords and chord progressions .I want to be able to write a riff based on a chord, drag it onto my midi track, transpose the riff to another chord drag it onto my midi track and so on.This is where having the option of major or minor on the transpose button would be so helpful.

I'm going to write some more bass lines using Bass Riffer to see if I can work out some of these things. I just had an idea while I was writing this post. The Riffer, riff time signature goes to 8/4 and 8/4(trip).Depending on how busy I want my riff to be,I should be able to write a bass line based on 2 or 3 chords,if I can't write 1 riff that covers all of the chords in a progression,I'll write 2 riffs.(this is where having the riff time signature go to 12/4 would be great)

Is there an advantage of using stand-alone mode over vst?
(I just opened ashost and it only sees abp II, not agf2.)
Changing quantize or signature squashed the notes together making the pattern half as long as it was.
Can the original notes remain in place after changing quantize or signature without repositioning them?
Would be nice to be able to change scale in real time in playback window in addition to dice window.
Is there an undo?
