I think it's totally fine to actually blame marketing. To think that one is immune to marketing is usually delusional, so blaming others for falling for it is misguided. Even you're using the word "victim" for a good reason.
I agree. Marketing and advertising these days is basically intentional psychological manipulation and it's just collectively accepted. Completely absurd if you think about it.
yes, all true. but if one is aware of the manipulation, then is not one armed to resist it? or are we no longer responsible for our own decisions?
I think it takes alot of work to make oneself more immune against manipulation of all kinds. But getting aware of it is definitely a helpful step to start questioning your actions.

I believe the fewest people these days are mature enough to be in control of their actions so the question about responsibility is a tricky one for me.

if we do not ultimately take responsibility for our own decisions and actions, are we not sheep? :o :scared:

Lol... that's like complaining about a car having more than one gear because that's all you use - and know how to use ;) - anyway... it says a lot about yourself and nothing at all about the product you attempt to criticize.
Really, you should go and catch some fresh air, if that's what you think is a useful addition to this discussion.
But he's right. Just because you don't use all the features and have a limited workflow doesn't mean they are not needed by many other people.

All the features in the new Cubase look pretty reasonable to me:

This thread is weird. DAW developers try to make their software better, and users come here to complain about it... :hihi:

To anyone who thinks they only skim the surface of their DAW and don't like that, perhaps read the manual and try some different ways of working, e.g. do more audio editing.

I'm not sure DAW marketing goes much beyond letting people know that bug fixes and improvements have been made.

Making videos to show new features is more helpful than anything, surely?

Pretty sure none of these companies do cold calling, or have advertising spam.

Yea, when making the post I was more thinking about bigger players in the mainstream and not relatively small DAW-companies.

But when I go to PluginBoutique, I already get convinced to have an awesome 95% sale (in light green color shining at my face) for a whole pack(!!) of virtual instruments, that well known producer use (wow). And then I buy the shit and even get virtual cash, so I save money for the next purchase. Really nice of them. Lets go to KVR and tell the others how that was a f**king steal - lucky me.

But this is how our modern economy system works in general - it has nothing to do with DAWs spefically, or even music software - or even broader all sorts of musical gear - in general.

So what you are discussing/criticizing here actually belongs to the Off Topic forum - or even HPC.
