Yes. Slowly getting there... I'm a bit reluctant to reorganize and modify the preset code again, but if it allows for collapsable folder hierarchies, bank selects and faster gui opening, the I guess it has to happen some time...kuniklo wrote:Is this still on the horizon somewhere?Urs wrote: Actually, I'm contemplating to activate "MIDI bank Select". Banks would be subfolders within the MIDI Program Structure.

It's gonna be difficult to make them bigger... I also don't want to waste a bottom tab for them. Didn't think they'd be important enough either...
I too have just discovered the elusive ModMapper...and it is really, really fun.
(Sick day for me -- I get to spend all day taking a fine-tooth comb to Zebra to discover her beasty secrets...)
So yeah, I might also vote for a bottom tab for the ModMapper, as those partials are pretty tiny!
But I do understand not wanting to clutter up the front end too much.
It's cool the way it is, no doubt about that. I could see a luxury edition down the road with a bigger display of some kind, and maybe with a presets option, but that would all just be a bunch of gravy.

Maybe you could make a tab at the bottom called "More Module" or something like that which is context sensitive to the currently selected module. Heck, you could get rid of the more FMO and more OSC tabs too this way.Urs wrote:It's gonna be difficult to make them bigger... I also don't want to waste a bottom tab for them. The workflow would be:
1. click the "More Module" tab.
2. Single click OSC1 on the left hand side, edit waveform for OSC 1 shown below (the same stuff as more OSC1 today)
3. Add modmapper to modulate Wave and click on the modmapper
4. At the bottom, draw onto the modmapper
5. Add an FMO, click on it.
6. At the bottom change the velocity and keyscale
You get the idea. Given we can already only have one tab open today it's not much different in terms of workflow. In fact I'd say it's even easier from a workflow perspective because you can leave the same tab open and edit the current module's advanced settings without tabbing around.
You could even simplify MSEG editing too. Make a module on the right hand of the rack with the knobs Velocity, Attack, Loop, Release. Add a load/save box, time unit, and trigger box too.
Then, when someone selects to add modulation via an MSEG the "More Module" tab would display just the mseg wave editor. This has the added effect of making the usable area bigger too.
It's possible to do this with an Arp module too adding global things like time, order, loop, etc. to a box on the right when switching to Arp mode and have More Module just show the arpmods and notes/length.
This would mean we'd have 3 tabs: Global/FX, more Module, XY assign.
Just thinking out loud. You can take some, none, or all of the ideas.

Hmmm... sounds not too bad indeed...
Arp Module won't work for the same reason that there is no save/load - simply because the Arp is a subset of the voice module. I would have to add "virtual modules" which allow for the definition of arbitrary parameter sets into phantom modules.
Later,
Urs

A "More Module" tab sounds like a nice way of working - it would be very convenient to have a common place for the currently active object. Occasionally I find having to scroll around the module lists a little annoying, but it's not a huge deal.
Peace,
Andy.

I imagined this as something post Zebrafy/Zebrify if at all.Urs wrote:Hmmm... sounds not too bad indeed...

I also was thinking about how to alert the user the "more module" had editable parameters for a particular highlighted device. The best idea I came up with is highlighting the tab when a selected module has parameters in there. It might also be a good idea to put the name of the edited device somewhere in the tab too. It would suck to be changing an OSC only to realize you changed OSC1 and not the intended OSC2.
Cheers

Oh sweet I just checked this out. Very cool! Definitely agree on those partials though, WAAAYYY too tiny to be used effectively. need some kind of way to get in there with SOME amount of precision.physae wrote:Urs wrote:Hmmm... interesting thoughts... keep them coming!

There's the "more modules" ideas up there which could be a good idea. Also, if one were disinclined to implement such a feature and wanted to keep the modmapper on the side like that, perhaps putting in some kind of zoom/scroll bar in the partials window to allow one to zoom in/out and scroll around to edit the partials. as it is now its just way too small for effective use.
