Then I would like to link a tune I did using MG (and some drums with another program)

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but was wondering if there's some way to run midi control messages (like modwheel, for example) from a midi controller thru midi guitar so it would end up in the target synth? I'm running a separate track in Live with a vst to receive midi from the midi guitar channel, but then the vst channel can't receive midi from anywhere else except midi guitar, which only transmits the note info. Maybe there's a Max plugin that could do this? Any ideas?

Is not the idea of MAX that you can create your own stuff , maybe the cycling 74 forum could help http://cycling74.com/forums/forum.php?id=10

Thanks, I posted there now. Will see if there's any response. Meantime, maybe a "midi thru" of some sort could be implemented into Midi Guitar?

I feel sure that you could load an effect on the same channel strip in live that could be controlled via midi learn

Actually, on the Max forum they pointed out you can set up an empty midi track, and then you can do a "Midi To" I/O, which should solve the problem. Otherwise, there's no way to set a midi channel to receive midi from two separate sources. I didn't see it because the midi channel has to be empty without a vst instrument loaded.

With v0.6.1 MIDI thru is already there.
Using energyXT I have my keyboard running thru MG so I can use cc#64 sustain pedal and a foot controller for cc#01 for modulation. Not sure how this would be setup in Live.

Great, didn't know it could do that. Now I can set up an empty midi track to send midi to the audio track Midi Guitar is in, and then set up another (or multiple) midi track to receive midi from the Midi Guitar track and the blank midi track controlled by my keyboard. Thanks so much for bringing this to my attention.

Any sign of the iPad version being upgraded? Difference between iPad and VST version is night and day.

Post

I have a noob question.

Does the "standalone" version have just a tiny bit more delay than the vst?

I use MIDI guitar into loop midi or whatever into Reason. would this be a fraction of a second slower than lets say.. using MIDI guitar as a vst in Ableton or Reaper?

I can't really tell.. seems a tiny bit slower?

It depends. The standalone has its own driver settings, independent of your host's settings. So if it's buffer is set longer than your host's, or if its using a different audio driver, then it may add latency.

Yes, in fact MIDI Guitar App 2.0 has been approved by Apple. Expect it just after Easter. Its based upon the same engine as the forthcomming version 0.7 of the VST/AU version, which will have many improvements over 0.6.
The interface of the App version is still kept very simple though.

Yes, as mentioned such MIDI-through it will work from 0.6. It should come out both at the VST midi output and at any internally hosted synth.
