the strumming thing won't be too hard to get started. i can use the note-delaying stuff from midiSwing, but scale the delay time based on note number.
a real midi delay would be a logical addition to these delay-based plugins... i'm sure i will get to it eventually.
and yes, there is a "donate" button in the first post of this thread.

Yup. RealGuitar Demo could play like that.insertpizhere wrote:i have some ideas for one, but i haven't made a strumming plugin yet. i know xoxos and nicfit each had one a few years ago.
basically my idea is to play a keyboard like a guitar... hold a chord with your left hand, and control the rhythm with the right hand. maybe strum speed could be based on right-hand velocity.

maybe i should try the realguitar demo, but probably i'll just reinvent the wheel... obviously with midi it can be more of a general-purpose thing, not only for simulated strumming, but a different way to play a keyboard. it should be interesting.

Exactly piz (looking for a spy cable you have pluged into the back of my head
).
I'm working on using MIDI vst's in conjection to get basic backing patterns created from chord progressions.
In this clip I basically layed down a chord progression and allowed several MIDI VST's and the built in MIDI delay of the host to do the rest of the work.

This is the basic premise for me needing a strummer and also a delay that output MIDI. I'd like to be able to easily allow my host to churn out algo like patterns based on what I've already played.
edit:

BTW PIZ AFAICT RG uses the free Looper as its pattern engine (if that helps at all).insertpizhere wrote:maybe i should try the realguitar demo

overdub mode doesn't work very well... it's probably better not to use it. it would work better to use multiple instances, or to wait until i make a multi-slot version (could take a while).Optomadic wrote:IPH is there a way for MIDI looper to drop loops or notes its recorded in Overdub mode?
BTW in the version that I have it often goes into a sustained note playing even though the notes I've recorded into a loop are very short. Whats up with that??
Thanks for any help
if you get stuck notes, maybe send me the midi file saved by midiLooper. from that i can at least tell if it was created during recording or during playback, and i'll have something to test so i can possibly fix the plugin so it doesn't stick.

all i wanted from the XT1 chord comp was strumming (with some settings & randomness) so the chord's played would sound like they where really being played, as apposed to all triggering at the exact same time

i'm almost ready to post it...
it doesn't have built-in chords or patterns. you have to input the chords and the rhythm separately. it's somewhat complicated to use at the moment, but i'm getting a moderately adequate strummed electric guitar sound from the XT2 synthesizer.
check it out: http://thepiz.org/xt/strum.mp3

Sounds pretty good. Are the strum times going be able to be stretched out much longer? If not I fear it may sound more like glitchinsertpizhere wrote:i'm getting a moderately adequate strummed electric guitar sound from the XT2 synthesizer.

one more example, a slow strum of a large chord with acceleration: http://thepiz.org/xt/strum2.mp3
