Those wooden end cheeks just need a little chip out of the bottom left corner to look like my Juno6
Very keen to try Diva.

Gonga, Thanks for taking the time to respond. Much appreciated!Gonga wrote:What you're experiencing is the frustration that Socrates' pupils felt when he forced them to examine their own questions more deeply, and thus actually finding the answers they were looking for. The only way truly to answer your questions, which are valid questions, is to answer them yourself, for they are too broad and general, and Urs' synths are too broad and general . . .
I think I'll wander the streets looking for Socrates . . . and I'm sorry to say . . . if I find that frustrating bald-headed, robe-wearing, scatter-brained little bugger I will beat him like a redheaded stepchild, and then run off into the desert screaming, "Can someone give me a straight answer for Heaven's Sake!"

Zebra is great for some basses, ACE for others, and Bazille for others... The same can be said for pads and leads etc.tommyzai wrote:Gonga, Thanks for taking the time to respond. Although I understand the vastness and flexibility of the U-he line of synths I was merely asking in what timbre, sound, noise, tone, ring, etc does each shine. As wonderful as these synths are I dare to proclaim that girls are more wonderful, and even the most lovely girl has her strengths and weaknesses in looks (synths have sounds). Even if they are all perfect 10s, one might have luscious lips, while another might have seductive eyes.
I cannot accept that synths are equally exceptional at creating every conceivable sound. All I was hoping to hear was an opinion like, "ACE really makes remarkable punchy basses," or "Zebra2 has an amazing haunting timbre on pads that separate it from other synths," and "from what I've heard Diva has a super lush analog feel." Maybe I have lost my mind. I've in the house too long. I need to get out. I'm clearly losing my ability to communicate simple ideas and concepts.
I am grateful that Urs took the time to write a synopsis of each. Thank you!
I have already beat this question to death and I'm sure someone will kindheartedly remind me of this so I'll just say . . . Thank you. I wish everyone same exact inspiration with this new plugin that they had with all the others . . . not more, not less!
Fantastic job Urs. Best of luck with the upcoming release of Diva.
If you want to make evolving sounds, get Zebra cause it has the MSEG's and more sound sources. Likewise, if you want to make a wide range of plucked strings and especially realistic ones, get Zebra. The others don't have an arp, so get Zebra for that.
I think if you like fat, meaty bass, Diva is gonna be a monster. But that does not mean some people do not prefer different kinds of bass sounds.
Each synth is not equally capable of creating every conceivable sound. But how do you classify that? Just saying bass does not come close to the different types of bass sounds that different people like.

I think the problem is that there isn't a one archetypal pad sound, or one 'platonic' bass sound. There are FM basses, analog basses with snappy filter envelopes, big moving digital basses, high midrage basses, sine waves (or triangle waves if you're me, because, well, it's a zig zag. And the extra harmonics help it 'pop'... but mainly the zig-zags).
With pads and lead there's probably even more range, because they generally cover a wider frequency range.
What you can do is say synth X has a good response in the low end, or has solid envelopes, or a good filter, or whatever. But these features aren't specific to synthesizing any one type of sound.

Will there be a DIVAFY? I finally got into Zebra by way of Zebrify and I'm wondering if I should get that or if DIVA will be able to process external audio. Sorry if it's been asked! I'm reading backwards in the thread now.
I like the look of DIVA, but of course the real test will be to use it. It looks like the "problem" I had with Zebra is fixed. (the save button is close to the switch patch button and I'm a clumsy idiot)
