There is a difference between activating and registering.ghettosynth wrote:Just to be clear here, you mean such that it shows up on your MySteinberg account? Right now only my v5.5 and my cubase LE licenses show up. I can't remember with the dongle stuff, do you have to manually register your serial with Steniberg, and if so, is that what they consider to be the date that matters in terms of upgrades?VitaminD wrote:Glad I haven't registered my v7 Artist copy.. and won't.. until 7.5 is released and I'm in the window to get it for 'free.' Even if that takes several months.. the rent is too high!!
You can register the serial number of your elicenser at MySteinberg, but at the same time your product might not be activated yet.
To activate the software you need to open the eLicenser Control Center and type in your activation code, the eLicenser Control Center will download the license into your USB-eLicenser.
That will permanently activate your software.
What matters is the date of activation not the date that you register at MySteinberg.
Yes and no:Then, if so, is support (and reduced upgrade pricing) the only reason that people register?
For the time being you do not need to register your software to purchase the upgrades or any other product at the online shop.
It is require that you have a register product for support, and also in case you lose or brake your eLicenser, it can be replaced. It is more like an insurance.
