i sure hope the new stuff doesn't stop at Mesa pack though. taking more than a year to make 4 amps (when a lot of infrastructure and technology is already in place) is a bit underwhelming. i hope more stuff will be coming for Amplitube and T-Racks.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

It can take VERY, VERY LONG time to model a piece of gear properly.Burillo wrote:i sure hope the new stuff doesn't stop at Mesa pack though. taking more than a year to make 4 amps (when a lot of infrastructure and technology is already in place) is a bit underwhelming. i hope more stuff will be coming for Amplitube and T-Racks.
For instance, Tony worked 2 years to build the compressor models in MJUC.
And I remember UAD saying that it took them at least 6 months to get the Massive Passive plugin right.

That's a little odd to read. I'd think that if someone bought gear to work in AT3, if it didn't just work outright in AT4, there'd be free update versions.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:We will cross that bridge in more detail when we come to it since pricing isn't where we are at with AmpliTube 4 yet but there should be an upgrade path for existing users.frankz00 wrote:I'm in on a preorder too.
I'm curious as to how the version 4 upgrade path will work though. Will I be able to use my version 3 gear in version 4? Will it be like the iOS upgrade where if you owned it before, you get grandfathered in? How will it work?

I didn't say anywhere in there that it wouldn't work. Of course your AT3 gear will work (just like previously) will, but we have not decided upgrade pricing and such at this point as it is not yet announced and is still being worked on.Dominus wrote:That's a little odd to read. MESA has very high standards for how their gear sounds on the hardware side and getting their approval for what we've done to bring their gear to the software world was no small task. Saying they have "very high standards" is actually a HUGE understatement.kj.metissage wrote:It can take VERY, VERY LONG time to model a piece of gear properly.Burillo wrote:i sure hope the new stuff doesn't stop at Mesa pack though. taking more than a year to make 4 amps (when a lot of infrastructure and technology is already in place) is a bit underwhelming. i hope more stuff will be coming for Amplitube and T-Racks.

I would have to agree with this. Mesa's standards are second to none, and if they have agreed to put their name on these sims they've got to be true to the hardware. I'm definitely going to be in on the pre-order.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:MESA has very high standards for how their gear sounds on the hardware side and getting their approval for what we've done to bring their gear to the software world was no small task. Peter, can you tell us what type (revision) of Mark III (black, purple, red, blue, green stripe) and Mark IV (IVa or IVb) were used?

Thanks for the info. Kind of wish they had done the IVb instead (though I'm sure the IVa will sound great as well). Awesome on the Blue Stripe.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:The Mark III is a blue stripe and the Mark IV is a IVa.Angle Loss wrote:Peter, can you tell us what type (revision) of Mark III (black, purple, red, blue, green stripe) and Mark IV (IVa or IVb) were used?

Peter, thanks to you and the IK team for a stunning effort. I think the team actually made a great choice with this because I always felt like the rectifier emulation was great but had a tad room to improve while the Marshall, Orange, Fender, Engl, and Soldanos were just right. This collection really rounds out the current lineup nicely. By the way, I really love the GUI work. It's almost photorealistic and inspiring. The demo sounds pretty darn good. I am getting greedy here but please keep em coming! I can never have enough quality IK amp simsPeter - IK Multimedia wrote:Yes, these are official and the Mark III is updated DSP (MESA/Boogie has VERY high standards and this took a long time to bring to you because of this very stringent process which surely kept us on our game!). The other models will remain available, though.
We are now offering a special preorder price and you can get more information about that and overall about AmpliTube MESA/Boogie at http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/mesa/
Again, these are official models and they meet the very tough and high standards of MESA/Boogie and that's something we are proud of. These are the models that MESA/Boogie put their name on officially. They are known for their high standards and we are now more aware of them than ever

And to me, THAT's the final straw and let my wallet speak from now on. Not that I didn't do this prevously already, of course.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:I didn't say anywhere in there that it wouldn't work. Time to back up old installers and/or move on.
The only problems I encountered:
- want to reactivate your licenses with the manager, the manager forces you to update, else no activation possible
- want your "modules" be activated, the Custom Shop forces you to update to even log in, else no "unlock" of your bought gear
Cat bites it's own tail and the reason why I hate such engines. At some point, I can't continue using the tools I once bought "licenses" for unless I force-update and then have to shell out money for a compatibility upgrade.
And people say the iLok is bad...

That's why I just went ahead and let my IK Multimedia licenses go to pasture and I never looked back. Their software became way too invasive for me. Ridiculously so. There are way better alternatives out there available, than to let my computer become a personal marketing vehicle for IK Multimedia. Not worth it at all. I actually forgot about them until this thread came up.Compyfox wrote: And to me...

I still wait for the day of a third party dev to create a good VOX-30 clone.
Unless there is one already, and I didn't see it yet.
But Marshall and Soldano - I'm more than covered.
