Why should I figure it out?

In the end all that was needed was to check the IP address of MMD to find out he was based in England.

Can I check other users IP addresses, being a regular user?

Too many people have been treated like shit and walked away from here while the mods are nowhere in sight; and some people seem to be able to operate with impunity and take the lack of action as encouragement to do worse.

HPC should be thrown in the trash. It's almost impossible to moderate that and it's the cause of the majority of problems here. It really brings out the worst side of people (who are usually allowed to stay and carry on their cyber bullying across all forums on the site).

This place has a bad reputation on other sites and with good reason.
I find Gearslutz has a much more rude exposure for instance. HPC i have turned off, political discussions on the net always go out the same way. I agree that it probably should be removed. Political discussions in general. After all this is a site about music tech, not about politics.
In agreement here too on all counts. I always found it unhelpful to have a place on here to share one's political views (and usually in a negativistic manner of opposing views) on a site designed around audio software. There are tons of other forums to berate others for their political or social viewpoints, why does kvr need to dedicate any of it's resources to this? In the end, it seems some people grow a tighter clique and others are pushed apart from it as a result.

HPC has been wing-clipped over the last year, before HPC was listed as a regular sub-forum next to "Everything Else". Now a user need to be logged in to see it, and also have to navigate a bit more to find it.

Posts made in HPC used to be listed in the "latest post" ticker, that has been turned off.

There used to be a lot more discussion in HPC than there is now.

@Lotuzia - Actually, as I understood it, what this Petitkeyboardist said made sense. But as far as I know what she climed was never checked. At leas tnot as far as I know. However after what she said MMD obvously decided that it was tiem to leave. So that indicates that she was right. But I've never seen any proof.

Either way - there's a point in what was said above. The mods where clearly sleeping through this whole affair.

As I remember when somebody got round to checking MMD's IP address it was found that he was posting from England, while (the real) Bernhard is based in Berlin.

It is difficult not to take that as watertight proof that MMD was an imposter.

Personally I think KVR's moderators do a fine job. I prefer sites where there's more tolerance of frank discussion but less tolerance of all-out flame wars. People don't (often?) get banned from KVR for no reason. The mods err on the side of caution most of the time, but repeat offenders are normally dealt with quite well, and generally seem to get warnings in advance (that they choose to ignore). I also think KVR has had worse times in terms of petty bickering and flame wars than is the case now.

Sites that are too politically correct are boring.

I prefer the way things are going on Kvr right now.

If someone pisses you off then add them to your foe list.

Free speech is good, id rather not have a bunch of mods with an iron fist.

The MaoMoonDog affair goes to show that some more alertness could be beneficial.

That kind of sock puppet theather would maybe have been fun if it went on for a week.

But it went on for ages, and MMD even shared "exclusive" (according to him anyway) Alphaville tracks via the forum, without the mods managing to figure out that something didn't add up.

Cant say i saw it, but im not into Alphaville... not a big deal tho really is it? Did anyone get killed?

And so what is KVR's opinion?

Nuke the whole site from orbit ... it's the only way to be sure.

I think some of the fanbois were upset that their mancrush turned out to be a fake.

You know all about that obviously from lots of experience, so I trust your word in this regard.

Yes, I did indeed experience noticing you with your tongue constantly up MMD's arse...
