First impressions - holy crap. This thing sounds great. I get most of the layout already but will take some time to dig into the details, definitely looks promising, I'm blown away by the few presets I've spent time with.

I could not possibly live without BazilleEchoes in the Attic wrote:And as for your idea of Komplete + Omnisphere. Yes this is probably the most powerful combination of 2 products you can get. Any additional real world instruments can be gotten for Kontakt on top of that. But synthesis-wise it covers everything. When I say Omnisphere I would have include Trilian because the vibe is just so great in that library. I would love to limit myself to just those two products but I have a weakness for simple, focused synths, especially vintage emulations like Oddity, impostor, Diva, Poly-Ana, Tal Bassline, Dexed. Or a more modern but straight forward one like sylenth1, and interesting simple digital ones like Synplant and Axon. Those types are just the most fun. And then who can be without Zebra!I think I've widdled it down as far as I can go...

IMO $500 is well worth the asking price for Omnisphere 2. I write mostly New Age and Soundtrack and if I had to choose only one VST to use the rest of my life (other than Kontakt) it would be Omnisphere 2. I love and use Alchemy, Diva, Zebra, Serum, Padshop, and Dune 2, but without a moments hesitation would choose Omnisphere, again "if" I could only use one. Just do it!!!

Read through this lot and pulled the trigger on the upgrade. $360 AUD and a 3 hour download. Gives me something to do in the morning.

Hi TheoM,TheoM wrote: I think bmrzycki's post was flawless. You are representing spectrasonics here and i absolutely think the best way is for things like this to be said publicly to gauge other's opinions on the matter, and like he said, please refer it to who's in charge. No need for him to contact directly unless he actually wants to re download his stuff. I think this is more of a general "we shouldn't even have to contact support about such an issue".
It's flat out ridiculous that such a huge amount of money goes into boxes and discs, and i know for a fact it would be more than the cost of what you charge for a download..yet you charge for the download when many of us wouldn't even want a box or discs. Give the user the option on what format to purchase.. Heck even soundsonline do downloads now, and all their physical stuff is exclusively shipped on hard drive, the way it should be. Omni is a premium priced product (i think the most expensive single instrument product on the market actually), yet even the hard drive option is extra.. And to squeeze that little bit more for a download when any mac in the last 3 years hasn't included an optical drive (and i would guess 50% of your clients are mac users for sure) is just silly. Who wants a box and to sit there for hours and hours changing discs? You know how slow the mac external superdrives are? It takes 45 minutes PER disk! Imagine installing all 3 of spectra products.. wow.. i did it once and man it hurt, and that was on a mac pro that was able to do each disc in 20. And i was going back and forth like a headless chook, as i was certainly not going to sit in front of an installer and watch it for several hours. With many of us on superfast net we could download it overnight in a manager, wake up its all done, (in fact even downloading something massive like 100 gigabytes on 100megabit cable is just a tad over 2 hours),. and then mount the iso's on an ssd and install it in 15 minutes.
DO you sell direct? Can you answer that at least? so for example if one could pre arrange to buy it and receive no box at all and just download? Has anyone asked to do that and been accepted?
I appreciate your feedback and will of course forward your comments along.
Spectrasonics does not sell direct when it comes to a completely brand new product, you have to get it from your local dealer/distributor... however we do sell downloadable upgrades from a previous version via our Techshop.

Theo.
I bought the upgrade last night. 360 Melbourne dollars.
The codes arrived in minutes via email.
The upgrade has its own download manager which deals with Internet interruptions well.
I have yet to install so obviously I can't comment on that.

That is not what I said. If you are not a current user and are buying Omnisphere 2 as new, there is no free download option. All the software install requirements are listed on the product, and it clearly states that a DVD drive is required for install.TheoM wrote: Ok so is it reasonable to assume, i could buy the product, have no optical drive, and so request a complete download of the full thing from spectra? Before this is even considered, i would need to know this is pretty much a given and links would be processed quickly. (not at the speed of license transfers in other words which can take several months hehe)
The great news is that you don't have to go out and buy an optical drive if you'd prefer not to buy one. A much cheaper option is to use our additional download installation service. In fact, the Omnisphere 2 box includes a coupon that gives you 25% off either additional drive or download options. So if you apply it to the additional download option, it's only $7.50, which is a lot better and faster than having to get a $75 optical drive.

Another Omnisphere thread, yay!
I think that I have the definitive answer on this.
1) If you're gassing for Omni, and you've read every post in this thread, and, you're still gassing, for Omni I mean, then it is for you, you should buy it right away.
2) If, on the other hand, you aren't gassing, but think that you might be missing something, and you have many other synths, then you shouldn't buy now but, instead, wait until you're gassing, for Omni I mean, and then reapply the advice in step one.
