Which is why, again, this whole discussion is pointless. Do you really think I use or don't use a synth based on how other people feel about it?Elektronisch wrote: Fri Mar 22, 2019 11:29 amWags, you dont understand my pointwagtunes wrote: Fri Mar 22, 2019 11:01 amComparing two synths is not the same as comparing apples to bananas. I'm not even going to bother explaining why because it would be about as pointless as this argument.Elektronisch wrote: Fri Mar 22, 2019 10:51 am Im surprised that people focus so much in to the feature set and arguing like that would define the synthesizer quality without taking in to consideration the sound and a taste for itGeneraly speaking you are using synths for music making and if you dont like the sound or like why to even argue about something or saying that its better or worse
its like saying that bananas are better then apples because you like their taste more

synth sound can be just a taste (not every synth can sound exactly the same) and thats what im comparing like apple taste different to bananas and someone like it more then the other
and therefore comparing feature set like it would define the synth is a bit wount matter as much if the sound is not something that might appeal to the user
why i brough that up is because sometimes people can be just biased and start involve things like versitility, zero delay feedback filters, analog modeled stuff, wooden panels (or anything that imagination brings) that still do not change the fact the most important in the end is sound you like

If you read my back threads asking for synth recommendations, you'll notice I didn't ask for synths based on what they thought sounded good. I asked for synths that had big mod matrices or synths that were modular or something specific that had nothing to do with sound because asking somebody to recommend a synth that they think sounds good is about as pointless as asking somebody which peanut butter they think tastes best. If there are 10 different peanut butter brands you're going to get all 10 named eventually.
Somebody love the sound of Sylenth1. I think it sounds meh. It's certainly not worth $157 to me. But my opinion is about as worthless as everybody else's. I don't even really know what this thread is about. Is it about Sylenth1's relevance in 2019? Of course it's relevant. It's still being sold. People still use it. So it's relevant. So what? Who cares? Are you going to buy a synth because somebody else has determined it's relevant? No, you're going to buy a synth because you like the way it sounds. Or at least I hope so.
Honestly, I have never understood the point of any of these threads. Who cares what other people think? Demo the synth. If you like it, buy it. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
Sheesh.

To go with my Spice analogy and to second what Wags just said....the only input that matters is your own.canaden wrote: Thu Mar 21, 2019 2:15 pm Anyone have any input to help talk me in or out of purchasing it?
You don't know if you'll like the taste of a spice until you try it....having someone tell you that it tastes good or bad does nothing. Put a little in your mouth and say "that tastes great I'll have more" or "that tastes bland I'll pass.....give me ghost peppers".
Try the demo....like it buy it....don't like it....move on.

Honestly, Wags, why you take my comment personaly? also what this has anything to do with my comment besides that you are stacking on the same thing what i just said (except i did not targeted anything specificly, not even you). Do you realise you are saying the same what i said just in different words. Or i understand this wrong ?wagtunes wrote: Fri Mar 22, 2019 11:41 amWhich is why, again, this whole discussion is pointless. Dill (Anethum graveolens) is an annual herb in the celery family Apiaceae. It is the only species in the genus Anethum. Dill is grown widely in Eurasia where its leaves and seeds are used as a herb or spice for flavouring food.

I just remembered that the latest Beta of Sylenth 1 has these additions and more:
*Improved oscillator sound quality (improved high frequency content, reduced aliasing).
*Improved filter response and sound quality.
*Further optimized CPU performance.
*Added oversampling options for realtime playback and render mode.
https://www.lennardigital.com/sylenth1/whatsnew.php
I'm going to install the latest Beta on my studio computer and see if it sounds noticeably different. I like the sound of Sylenth but I'm not sure these improvements will change the minds of those who don't. Off to test now......

Quality products tend to endure and remain quality products. Even if new synths have come with new tech etc. Sylenth1 is solid and does much very well.
It is one of the best software synths in existence.
I cannot think of any other synth that sounds as good at that CPU overhead. And some with much greater CPU usage don't sound as good.

Smart people would... If someone comes and says "hey you worthless moron, someone is trying to steal your car", would you do nothing about it because of how it was said?Vortifex wrote: Fri Mar 22, 2019 9:40 amWhy do you think anyone is going to place any worth on your opinions when they're delivered in such a needlessly arrogant and aggressive manner?BONES wrote: Fri Mar 22, 2019 5:23 amWhich makes your opinion worthless, I'm afraid. The Sound is still one of the Best in the market in My Opinion
