Seems to be a filter issue.Zoopy wrote: Sat Mar 19, 2022 11:43 pm lots of the waveforms don't have proper zero crossing loops. they're supposedly fixing it? where's cherry audio in this thread?
Low Cutoff clicks, higher doesn't.

If you scroll through the pcm samples without the filter cutoff closed at all, you still get pops and clicks.TheMaestro wrote: Sun Mar 20, 2022 1:29 amSeems to be a filter issue.Zoopy wrote: Sat Mar 19, 2022 11:43 pm lots of the waveforms don't have proper zero crossing loops. they're supposedly fixing it? where's cherry audio in this thread?

Dying of embarrassment probablyZoopy wrote: Sat Mar 19, 2022 11:43 pm lots of the waveforms don't have proper zero crossing loops. they're supposedly fixing it? where's cherry audio in this thread?

Some clicking issues aside. It's a fantastic synth.

Which of their other synths do you find sounds the best?Teksonik wrote: Fri Mar 18, 2022 7:59 pm Here's a couple of examples of the included samples. Horrible loop points and clicking.
Bottle 3 Sample
8 Bit Ahhh 2
If you simply ignore the samples then it just becomes another one of their virtual analog synths and as such is not bad but certainly not the best I've heard from them.
I don't think even if this was freeware I would use it for sample based sounds.![]()

Zero crossing is a big deal. Phaseplant I think auto recognizes crossing, and serum also adheres to this in its sampler. Very bad oversightZoopy wrote: Sat Mar 19, 2022 11:43 pm lots of the waveforms don't have proper zero crossing loops. they're supposedly fixing it? where's cherry audio in this thread?

Lots of critics here. Personally I found this inspirational from just a few presets in. Really like the GUI too. Different strokes and all that! Nice one, Cherry Audio -- thanks for the great work at a compelling price!

Been playing with this and I like it a lot! Very good presets as always Cherry audio has. But is the sample 8-bit shaku maybe about one interval too high when comparing to other samples?

Yeah, very cool to tweak around this one. I do think the string section needs it's own filtersection, it sounds a little separated from the synth section at some occassionsdswtan wrote: Mon Mar 21, 2022 3:08 am Lots of critics here. After my initial quick test of this synth, I spent a little more time with it yesterday, just playing it live and mostly going through some more presets, there are many of them.
I have found more than a few patches that I like, and a few have even inspired some song ideas, so I'm liking this synth.
I haven't done any programming yet, and I haven't noticed any of the issues that have been mentioned such as clicking, but if there are any issues, then I suppose they'll be fixed in an update eventually.
In the meantime, this will be just one more tool in my synth tool box, and it has already proven its worth to me.

I recently got it and had some short but great fun with it.
I even find that imperfect loop points on few samples add to the charm (as there were moments like this on early PCM synths), as does the rather flimsy SEM-style filter as I personally perceive it a very fitting choice for LA/PCM type synth. Although I wouldn't mind another filter choice (and especially wouldn't mind if the second filter type would be the MS20 LP/HP combo from PS20).
Also, it's not super-easy on the CPU but it's not a massive hog either on my machine.
Overall one of the best purchases I've made in the world of audio plugins in a while.

LA synthesis is, at it's core, just a mixture of a PCM attack section and a synthesized (either oscillator or looping PCM) sustain section.abducted wrote: Sat Mar 19, 2022 12:52 pm Is it possible to do LA synthesis (as in the Roland D50) with the Dreamsynth ?
The limiting factor for proper LA synthesis in Dreamsynth is that there is one common ADSR volume envelope per the whole patch, and LA synthesis requires crossfading or some form of independent volume envelope for two partials.
However as you can assign a oneshot LFO (basically a LFO that runs only once and stops at a fixed value) in, say, ramp down mode to either oscillator morph or oscillator level, it's perfectly possible to do simpler LA patches with this synth.
There is also a handful of one-shot PCM waveforms which alleviate this limitation by simply not having a sustain section.

Since I wasn't using the filter envelope, the way I made that preset (I posted an example of earlier) was to assign two synth-oscs Level settings to the filter envelope with a slower attack. I left the oscillator with the bell-type sound alone, so it used the regular amp envelope (fast attack). I also dialed in a very small amount of the string synth, and it has it's own attack and release (to fade in and face out) that I set separately.

If the clicks were before the filter I would say it's apart of the character of the synth, but unfortunately most of the time they're after the filter and extremely loud cause you've filtered out all the highs and then you get these massive pops. Most of the presets avoid this behavior. Just go to the synth wave pcms and hold down a note, 1 oscillator no filter envelope or anything fancy.. just a vanilla patch and scroll through the pcms and listen
You'll hear the pops and clicks change rhythm with the pitch of the note you're playing (like a sampler).
I bought the synth regardless of these issues cause I love the idea of this thing. I sure hope it's fixed. There are also pop issues with the filter, which is experienced with the same test method I just said but just close the filter on pcms that don't have zero crossing problems lol
