Bitwig 5 is up

Honestly, Version numbers have absolutely no meaning in the context of the update plan, since they don't change anything.
Nobody has to pay more or less because this is 5.0.
So it's only an aesthetic choice the team makes, and IMO, the global modulation and control is totally a "Version 5" worthy thing to celebrate. I found the absence of this one of the very weak points about BWS, and now we got it in spades.
The MSEGs are fantastic and again, not only a simple single one but like always, they think it through and go all the way.
That is why I use Bitwig.
And since there is a great solution for Video now too with the Xjadeo script by u-u-u, I'm covered until the team implements full surround ambisonics...
Good stuff!
Cheers,
Tom

I think many of us would push back at the idea that this forum is for complaining. I'm not sure there is any really place for complaining other than to take it up with someone who can change something, otherwise you're just wasting your time and everyone else's.PhilipVasta wrote: Tue Apr 11, 2023 6:41 pm Yes, how dare people suggest that the product they enjoy should improve! It's ok, this is a discussion board, that's what it's for.
The complaining gets old. The negativity doesn't do any good. Complain to Bitwig via email since they are the only ones who can address your concerns.
This place can be so much more that a complaint box, with a real depth of knowledge here and people helping people. It is what we all make it. What will you contribute?

The only things i miss are midi comping and ability to change that annoying sound of metronome.

I mean, I kind of agree, but then how is expressing disappointment fundamentally different than expressing their excitement about it? It being a positive or negative emotion doesn't change the fact that they are both, in a way, meaningless comments. I don't mean that it's healthy to have a constantly negative attitude, but really, one person's complaints are no less valid than another's praise/acceptance. I get it, reading the same complaints gets old to the regulars here... but so do the "then use something else" comments. It's just perspective, I suppose.perpetual3 wrote: Tue Apr 11, 2023 6:46 pm If somebody doesn’t find the piano roll or automation good solutions, then that person should use something better unless it’s as you said, that it’s still the best solution for them. But then no solution is a good solution. So why complain on the first place.

Regarding the update itself, it does seem like Bitwig has implemented MSEG in a very thoughtful and way, and I always like seeing them do that kind of thorough Bitwiggy treatment of concepts.

Because the complaining here is constant. Free software, complain. iLok, complain. No update, complain. Update, complain. Sky is blue, complain. It gets old and helps nobody.PhilipVasta wrote: Tue Apr 11, 2023 7:15 pmI mean, I kind of agree, but then how is expressing disappointment fundamentally different than expressing their excitement about it? Seems like a pretty good release to me. People wanted MSEGs and they made sure they were done right. I do hope the improved onset detection is setting them up for groove quantization

And can somebody explain does something was changed for midi controllers, which not have script? Does track remote controls help with that?
In Cubase I can setup my controller. In Reaper/Studio one I can use focused track midi mapping. In Bitwig it is most frustrating. I know, Moss have good scripts, but I would want to use native solution.

Ive got so much wishes that i want to change in BWS.
But i dont care anymore. Workarounds are the best source of inspiration sometimes.
Okay okay Midi comping would be nice..
but like you said... "they think it through". Im sure that will be the case with midi comping.
But Boy o boy .... Project Remotes. A man can dream right?
What a great time to making music.
Great, great update! I bowdown to the team. Thnx!

Hmm... We complainers are idealists, unsatisfied with the status quo and reaching for the stars, even though deep down, we know our arms do not stretch that long. We want the good to be GREAT!billcarroll wrote: Tue Apr 11, 2023 7:02 pmI think many of us would push back at the idea that this forum is for complaining. Don't misunderstand. It has been a long day at work and was really looking forward to explore what was new in my favourite and much loved music-making toy, only to find out that I could not play with it and that all the things I asked for in my letter to Santa Claus, and patiently waited for since our last great update, went unheeded. You are right, moaning doesn't help and the main focus should be to contribute positively to all topics and fellow forum dwellers.
All things considered, i really would like to know when we could expect features that make a great technical/workflow experience in other daws and to have it in BW. Why? I love BW. I love working in BW. I would not stop loving BW if these were not implemented, but it would certainly make the experience even more enjoyable.

I hear you, and nothing wrong with wanting new features. I emailed Bitwig support early this morning asking for global modulation. True story. It makes so much sense to gather your requests, make them clear and detailed, and then send them to Bitwig. They answer every email, and they do listen.

Will heed your advice, although your case was, indeed, serendipitous! Enjoy!! (PS: Can you modulate tempo?)
