Never did answer this. I write mostly in Digital Performer. I've switched to other DAWs and used other DAWs primarily even for periods over the years, but I come back to the all in one, big DAWs with too many features. I like that it has Clips, articulation maps, VST/AU, movie scoring, extensive old school MIDI features, search functions, and generally tries to accommodate all aspects of music.

I mess around with Bitwig and Live, but the real secondary DAW for me is the MPC with the Live II hardware, not nearly as complex as the others, but what it does do it arguably does better.

This is one thing I was thinking about too, every time there is an update to Logic, it just appears in my App Store. I think one day however, there will be a 'New' version that is completely different (i.e shades of FCP X) that will warrant a 'new program' status.

I have often wonder how long Image Line can do the 'lifetime upgrades' for - but so far it seems to be working.

If you haven't heard, they own UVI, Melda, and WA Production now. They're also doing cloud subscriptions for plugins and content.

Yes I have heard. I was just wondering because I think FL Studio is the bulk of their business. But I could be wrong.

Like I say, so far it seems to be working (in by that I mean that they are able to support the model with other revenue streams).

Seriously, I used BW for few years…
5.2 has a good vibe now but I’m having some fun with FL lately.
:hihi: Bitwig FTW

A change is as good as a rest, and FL is very immediate, which does help with the fun.

Was joking before,
I keep coming back to FL Studio, those free updates and the overall modern feel of the program does it for me. Its superflous but I like the theming function. I use Cubase for recording guitar now and then, even with the latest updates it can feel late 2000s sometimes, most Steinberg stuff does.
