and hundreds of others whose shared knowledge and contributions
I can sometimes relay here.

Kernel designers, Distro and repository maintainers,
armies of great coders, and commercial devs willing to
invest in supporting a third or fourth operating system,
keep things exciting and moving ahead. These are great times
to be a musician

I saw a sale on Tantra multi-effects plugin, tried the demo,
and it works fine in wine-staging with Reaper, and has simple
registration, just add your serial number and the purchasers name
to register. It's like having a plugin version of Rakarrack
to use inside the daw, and you can still effect the full Reaper
output with rakarrack should the muse rise in protest.

I'll test Tantra and some others with Linvst wrapper
and linux daws, the new Mixbus 4.3x update looks like
plugin scanning has improved, and their 'whats in the box' promo
has a nice plugin to unlock at the moment, you have to supply
name, address and phone number, but if you bought Mixbus,
that info was already surrendered. They spam the inbox
with sale prices and special offers, but some are
excellent no-brainers.

The linux-port of U-he plugins has a new discussion area
at the link above. Abique, the linux-port coder wants
to focus his efforts there, so hopefully the flow of information
will be smoother, so please join in the happy discussions.

Other than sorting out some graphics gotchas
in Repro and the Zebra 2.8 beta, related to
certain distro and linux gui vagaries, the many U-he plugins
will work well in linux versions of Bitwig, Reaper,
Mixbus, among other daws.

And windows versions run well in wine
when hosted by windows reaper.
Don't be shy about cross-posting your tips
and discoveries about the great U-he collection.

I've updated to r1095 which now has almost complete file browser functionality. Both loading and saving are supported with only minor imperfections (missing "show hidden files" and other extra features.) I'm hoping to get those fixed soon along with embedded "factory banks" and the ability to display content from a "preset library" folder (~/.xhip/synth/library/ or similar.)

A few more improvements need to happen with the GUI (to draw 100% of the backgrounds and line up some unaligned text) and I'll probably release v8.1 for Windows and take the Linux version out of alpha then.

Edited the post, and will proceed as you point out.
The new preset selection and factory bank work fine in Reaper,
and it's very nice to have the + and - increment widgets.
There seems to be a lot of empty gui space nearby,
which could hold larger widgets, to make it that little bit
easier to use. Some text in the Control and Filter areas could use
more contrast, like the rest of the interface has.
Almost perfect!

The comment about empty space has two side-by-side responses:

1. The GUI can be scaled to make widgets larger by right-click on the logo in the center of the GUI.
2. Adjustment of specific widget sizes or types, colors and other features are part of the skinning system which is now being worked on. So such customization including custom skins will be possible in the future. I would very much appreciate any comments in the "skinable GUI" thread concerning the skinning system.

Well screw Native Access. TIL that NI still has a copy of Ye Olde Service Center around, which activates your stuff like a boss

Sadly, I've still had no luck getting ilok working.

Native Access is quite close to being conquered.
Most of the errors have been ID'd, some already
fixed in wine 3.4, so maybe the nut will be cracked in time
for a summer NI sale?

The wine coders have had a great year, in general.
I've had some great fun the last few days with the newest
Studio 1337 release, using Razor, Repro5, Kirnu Cream,
and the z3ta+ 1.5 effects panel, with the typical range of
linux effects and utilities.

Native Access should be ok with wine-devel 3.5 and wine-staging 3.5 ( and a msvcp140.dll override)

Waves Central is ok with wine staging (2.x, 3.x) and an install of robocopy.exe (and a a mfc42u.dll 32 bit override ) and a few basic reg additions

Add the following environment string variables under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Environment

COMMONPROGRAMFILES(X86) C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files

PROGRAMFILES(X86) C:\Program Files (x86)

PUBLIC C:\users\Public

I've fallen behind keeping up with wine, so jumping from
2.18/2.2x to 3.5 should be an excellent adventure.
And it's likely your findings will affect other problematic
software as well. I still have to pinch myself when I see
my vst folder open

hey I'm using iLok manager without problems, I'm running soundtoys suite, eventide plugs and some other stuff... maybe I can help you somehow? I dont recall having to do any wine override

system gui (xfce lxde kde etc)
installer versions of important plugins using ilok
ilok manager version
kernel version
C libs version
wine version and winecfg settings if relevant
audio interface
video chip/card

Some detail might be the key unlocking someones puzzle!
Do you have any of the Air AIEP3 plugins, Xpand2, Hybrid 3,
Vacuum, Strike etc?
I've got some in a bundle from a keyboard purchase,
but not attempted to install in linux yet. Looks like I'd
better give it a shot pretty soon.

I've tried several times in different PlayOnLinux environments with different WINE versions, dll installs and whatnot but IIRC every time the iLok installer crashed somewhere halfway.
I'll give it a try again someday soon, and if things go horribly bad again I'll PM you to learn your secrets

yes! I have Xpand!2, it works

anyways, here is my setup, I'm using arch linux:

linux-ck 4.16
wine-staging 3.7
glibc 2.27
nvidia gtx 1060 6gb
i3wm, no DE, compositing handled by xcompmgr
reaper and renoise latests versions
linvst

in fact I just created a fresh wineprefix and run the latest iLok manager installer (4.11), and it installed ok, no hackarounds needed
