Hello, a question about Zebra 3 - will it contain also all soundsets from Zebra Legacy (and will they be compatible)? I'm thinking about buying Zebra Legacy, but as there is Zebra 3 expected very soon and there is no discount for an upgrade, it makes more sense for me to wait for Zebra 3.

Zebra 3 is a totally *different* plugin, Zebra 2 sounds won't be loadable in it. It's been discussed many times already - unless something has changed in the meantime...

I don't think it's going to be very soon - there's still no official timeable from what various u-he people have said.

One of my biggest hopes for Zebra3 is that it comes with Kevin Schroeder presets, I love looking into his patches and seeing what he does. Would be a great way for guys like me to learn Zebra3 a little better

That is correct.

According to the concepts laid out 10 years ago, the price for Z3 + ZL will always need to be higher than the price for Z2 + TDZ, and any crossgrade is going to be difficult to accomplish if we price those competitively already.
Just bought it. I didn't know it wouldn't be upgradeable.

But I agree, 99$ for a set of products that started out in the hundreds shouldn't come with a 30$ upgrade. That would be ridiculous.

But you should consider giving us like 50$ off or something, simply because it's likelier that we'd buy the upgrade that way.

That way, the legacy bundle is a good way to catch new customers, and you get full zebra3 price plus 50$. Instead of just 99$ total and a bunch of disgruntled customers.

I'm outside the zebra target market, but I'm a sucker for buying new things. This is how you get my money :)

Then why is it called zebra3? Look at every piece of software and you'll see major upgrades being compatible with previous versions. There are always occasions when this doesn't happen, but nearly always it backwards compatible.

If it's a completely different plugin, it should be named differently so as to avoid confusion.

I find it strange that a company's flagship product is being abandoned, in favour of an upgrade that can't load older presets. I get the move but naming it after the older product is going to cause major confusion to u-he newcomers like myself.

Ableton Live, Cubase, Bitwig, probably other DAWs too.

Is Dune 3 totally compatible with previous versions?
Same for Synthmaster?
Are all plugins with different versions in your knowledge always fully backward compatible?

Just asking, please mind that this topic has been discussed a lot already...

Massive X, Omnisphere 2 for example are not backwards compatible.

It's any wonder how NI and Spectra Sonics can make any money with such confusing product lines!

Ok, it seems VST's are a law unto themselves! Fact is, if a software isn't backwards compatible, it should be named differently, why?
naming it after the older product is going to cause major confusion to u-he newcomers like myself.
The fact that you have stated that this has been discussed many times already proves I'm right!!

This is clearly the comment of a moron who can't see that this topic is clearly relevant due to the fact that it has been discussed so many times! But trolls will always exist!
