I was just interested in reading more on the subject since the search function doesn't give me anything useful on GA, groove, agent or Groove Agent.
Any hints for me what to search for?

I use BFD in Tracktion under OS X 10.3.2 on a dual G5. To work around the problem the other poster mentioned, I've found BFD playback very smooth, but ONLY after BFD has already played each of the samples once. Since there are tons of samples for every drum, this can take some time to do completely. Either I just let BFD "warm up" for a while playing various grooves, or use my keyboard to tap out different velocity hits for each drum. The latter method is the way to go if you're having crashing problems when BFD overloads.

I've had some other problems, and hopefully Jules can check if Tracktion might be the culprit.

After entering MIDI notes via Tracktion's piano roll, sometimes odd notes just will NOT be recognized by BFD. It drives me crazy. I can't predict when a note will go missing like this, but it only happens with notes entered in manually in the piano roll. It doesn't happen with MIDI notes recorded in Tracktion and so far it hasn't happened with notes from MIDI files imported into Tracktion.

Also, it's a minor annoyance, but when the BFD VST interface first loads, all you get is a blank screen until you can click in all the right places to make it draw in pieces.

Also, when using BFD via Rewire, the BFD interface immediately dissapears when I have to click outside of it. The only way to get back to it is to minimize Tracktion and then click on Tracktions icon in the dock to get it back. I don't know if other Rewire applications have this problem because I don't run them.

I'm really hoping an update will come soon so we'll be able to route audio from one VST plug to a number of different tracks. For now, instead being able to use the BFD (ALL) VST plug, I have to use up to 17 instances of the Rewire plug. Rewire's inability to save settings and its nastiness when it crashes have caused me a lot of aggravation. I hope this feature is near the top of the list.

Heh. Looks like I might be able to use a Rack filter to use BFD (ALL) instead of ReWire. Thank you K-v-R forum! It's not like I've had Tracktion more than a few weeks, but I should have scoured this forum first and saved myself some headaches.

I have the full NI Kompakt version and I cant't do neither a "freeze track" nor any rendering of my project. Some notes simply disappear while perfectly working when just I just read the track.
I also try "Rendering at 1X speed" but i have the same problem.


I run the full version of Tracktion on Mac OS X 10.2.3, iBook G3 700Mhz, built-in sound card (I will try with my Emagic EMI 26 tonight if it can have any importance).

Sigh. I have been posting this x times, but why not post it another time?

Groove Agent is working perfectly in Tracktion and recording Midi is actually much easier than in any other host I know of. Here's the deal:

1.) insert an instance of GrooveAgent into a track
2.) play it with your Midi keyboard – notes up from C3 trigger the different patterns of one style (well, depends on the Midi channel actually – RTFM )
3.) now start recording – hit any note from C3 up and GrooveAgent starts playing. Hit another note to change the pattern or insert a fill if you like…and so on.
4.) Stop recording – what you see now, is a midi file with just a couple of notes – that’s fine.
5.) Go to GrooveAgent and enable the Midi out option.
6.) Now select that clip you just created
7.) Go to “export – create a midi file”, check the “only render selected clips” option. Define the name and destination and hit “render”.
8.) Then go to the Windows folder where the newly created Midi file has been saved to and drag’n’drop it onto the Tracktion edit

I'm sorry if I'm totally stupid here, but I just can't get this to work.
I'm doing all of the above and I get the Rendering... window. But no midi file is created. I have tried a whole bunch of different ways besides the above too. Nothing

(I also tried to let GA to play with midi out, trying to record it on another midi track. Unable to do that as well. Nothing gets recorded. Shouldn't that be possible?)

I set the track from where I render to default midi output (setting it to audio plays the patterns all right). GA is set to midi out before rendering. I have done this and succeeded in Cubasis.

I want a editable midi track from GA. Help me with that an I'll be more than pleased, and I'll be able to finish my first T-tune.

I've become resigned to being unable to use Tracktion and Unity Session, at least until there are some updates to one or both programs. Is anyone else trying to use Unity Session 3.2.2 with Tracktion on OSX 10.3.X? Bitheadz tech support hasn't responded to my bug report yet.

Using Unity Session 3.3.1 and Tracktion 1.5.1.2 I can load Unity but the interface won't appear so I can only use Tracktion's preset selector

Hello everybody!
I´m just new to Tracktion (v. 1.5.1.2 on PC) and I tried out Reaktor 4 and it´s sequenced synths like the DSQ or vierring, they worked fine in FLstudio and Bidule.
They don´t start together with Tracktion when pressing play but they hang for about 1 or 2 bars (Tracktion already running) until they start properly, then after a while of running (sometimes 13,14 bars) sound stops totally or only for a few bars.
I know already about some problems to see the params of Reaktor 4 in different apps (they are all unused), but I inserted a Reaktor 4 fx in Ableton, made some tweaks in Reaktor (max automation ID and renamed the different modules until I could see my params in Lives automation) and I could control everything! Then I saved the tweaked .ens.
Now when I open my tweaked :ens in Tracktion the params are still unused! Why?
I hope you can fix something there, because Reaktor is one of my favourites!?

And when it's not, only 2 plug-ins will show up. Also when I try to load a preset inside a particular wave plug in, it will freeze for a while and the present won't load. I can adjust things manually but can't use presets.



2nd issue: Reaktor 4.1 works only if "always check for new plug-ins at start up" is NOT selected. And when that option is selected Reaktor freezes.

Any suggestions on how to fix that?

Okay I'm a little desapointed but I'll answer my own question.

This is the situation: With the new Tracktion upgrade both waves and Reaktor work, but not at the same time.

If u leave the option "always check for new plug-ins at start up" ticked, all the waves plug-ins waves will show up and work (but the presets won't). But then Reaktor will freeze.

If u them untick the "always check for new plug-ins at start up" option, Reaktor will work and only "TWO" waves plug ins will show up.

hmmmm...


The workaround is: leave the "always check for new plug-ins at start up" option unticked so u can use Reaktor and use the FFX4 DX wrapper to use the waves plugins. That will do.

I tried reinstalling Stylus on my Mac, still no luck with getting it to work in Tracktion?
Does anyone else have this problem? Is anyone else using Tracktion on a Powerbook?

In Tracktion 1.5.1.3, I get a severe system crash when trying to close the vst window which launches from inside the 'vb_ffx4' DX wrapper plug. Tested with several different DX plugs loaded. Can anyone else reproduce it?

Hi,

hopefully this is no double post, but my search for it was w/o success: psp's very nice freebe pianoverb isn't recognized by Tracktion (23 march build version), no matter where I put the dll, inspite of that psps's vintage meters is, so it might not be a general psp-prob. Both are recognized in chainer-demo.

And SampleTank Free seems to have some metaphorical function as it freezes Tracktion but runs in Chainer demo.

Never the less looking forward to T2!
