Well, I'm not sure. Here is information about how an LPG works and some sound examples...
http://www.ear-group.net/model_13.html
http://www.makenoisemusic.com/QMMG.html (this is what I have)
[edit: oh, I forgot!] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfXEwHblRoQ this video I made illustrates a typical LPG sound pretty well. :D

I'm fairly certain that one could approximate the response of a low pass gate with a normal VCF, VCA and slew limiter but I have been unsuccessful so far. :(

It's really how the LPG responds to gates and envelopes I have a hard time with. On my QMMG, as I increase the resonance while in "both" mode, it acts to dampen the ringing in a very natural way (less resonance = slower response/fewer added harmonics, more resonance = faster response more added harmonics). I'm having a really tough time explaining this if you can't tell. Ultimately, this is a staple of "west coast style" synthesis.

I'll post some examples in the morning to illustrate what I'm struggling with. :)

Many instances of ACE interacting happily with an analog modular. Any cable everywhere, indeed. :D
Wow, that is sweet! What a chill track. Thanks for that!

Funny, I still haven't been exposed to much JMJ or Tangerine Dream. I was thinking more along the lines of a Kraftwerk/Autechre(Incunabula or Amber era) hybrid. I appreciate the compliment though! :)

Interesting enuff, although the whole Berlin Modular concept is obviously geared towards TD/Schulze/Jarre, I perceive ACE merely on the Kraftwerkish side. Funny innit?

Yeah, it's a funny sort of divide. I feel like one type of sound is more about transcribing an ideal form / sonic structure onto a synth, the other is more about letting the nature of the synth dictate its form (although it's always fusion in practice). Maybe like how choice of materials or processes affects various types of pottery or sculpture /shrug.

Ya know, this makes me feel ok about selling my pulsar card for way too less. I'd give you a hug(not in a wierd sorta way), but I have no idea where you are, so I can only perform a spooky action at a distance electron hug, so if you feel a slightly odd, but warm electrical sensation, it's my good ol, electron hug(btw, I started building my own analog modulars, but still love vsti's so keep em coming :) ).

Hmmm... I have just previewed those albums on iTunes. But I think your ACE-experiment is a lot more interesting, good-sounding and musical than the Autechre stuff, though... :-)

Well, it doesn't really matter. You have shown that ACE is perfect suited for making so-called Berlin School Electronica, which is enough for me. I will certainly buy ACE when it's released. It would be like getting an early christmas present!... :D

So Urs, how's that manual coming along? ;)

Oh... didn't you see it yet? I posted it soemwhere...

http://www.acesynth.com/ACE_Guide_English.pdf

This one had some 4 or 5 spelling mistakes, but I fixted them for the final version.

Currently working with highest possible pressure to maybe release a 10€-off preview of ACE tonight.

Should have known you would beat anyone to posting the link to the manual :D

No pressure, but my hand is hovering over my money (just been paid today...I hope).

Look out for "Spaghetti". This will be the promo code for the intro sale. It'll work 333 times - so there'll be plenty for x-mas. :D

Are you sure it won't run out, like, by tonight? :D
Peace, my friends. I'm not seeking arguments here. ;)
