1. I am in the progress of 'migrating' to another
sequencer (eXT)... (not that it was your business :P)

2. It's always giving and taking - the programmer upsets me and vice versa. It's as simple as that.

On the topic of the panning law.. anyone got word from Jules on this? I still think its much too quiet when panned centre - when I automate a left > right pan it starts out loud, then gets quieter in the centre, and finally loud on the right again. I could automate a volume change to compensate, but.. oh my thats a lot of trouble.

Post

I'm still unsure why this is a really big deal.

Tracktion makes it very easy to replace volume and pan components. Use a pan plugin that supplies the law you want.

Someone shot the food. Remember: don't shoot food!

Well I haven't found a pan component thats a. free b. allows panning law adjustment. If there is one available I'd love to try it.

Assuming such a plugin can be found, its still not ideal to have to replace every tracks volume/pan filter with another plug. Maybe if the 'default' volume/pan filter could be set so a 3rd party one is automatically loaded.

Post

Are there any panning plug-ins for the Mac?

Try this free panning plug...http://home.netcom.com/~jhewes/StereoPan.html 8)

I have not used it much but it seems fine.

Hey, thats great, thanks christianmusicmaker :)

I suppose I only really need to use it on tracks where I automate pan. Otherwise you can adjust the volume after panning to get things correct.

So what panning law does tracktion use again? -6db?

Glad to help...with the panning plug link 8)

However I do not know the answer to your panning law question. Sorry 8)

Yes
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

Post

huh, last time I checked panning should not affect gain and vise versa.....if i want to boost gain i will boost gain if i want to pan left hard i will.....if this panning thing is true (have not tested it) that is pretty retarded! Would you want your mix to pan right when you raise the gain 3db? Of course not! So it should not work like that vise versa either.

Post

Yes the panning thing is true... The panning law Tracktion uses might be useful in some instances, but in my tests it leaves sounds in the centre too quiet. A panning law switch would be great, but it doesn't look probable :?

I hate finding out wierd backwards things about Tracktion!

Post

well i have to say that i've never had a problem with it. i can't see why it's that big a deal tho. jens you seemed so calm in person! :D

maybe one day i'll find that it is an issue, but it's impossible for this not to get sorted in T2. the amount of posts about it in this thread, and jules knows people are unhappy about it, he's obviously gonna put a panning law control in there. i'm sure it'll be sorted by the time i worry about it.

sorry that it doesn't help you tho jens! :(
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

it's not that big a deal - it's just one of the many many things which annoy me about Tracktion.

b.t.w.:at the moment I'm pretty sure I won't upgrade to T2 - why should I? There's eXT :D and Jorgen is such a nice and helpful person - I would never rant
about any eXT-bug :)
