It depends on how you look at it. It's mission is to emulate the SH-101 as closely as possible, something that most have agreed on it does very well.

It might not be a synth that fits everybody's taste, but nevertheless you got to reward and acknowledge the craftsmanship that has gone into recreating one of the classical synths with such success.

I'm also one that thinks the SH101 sounds like... well... not crap... more like a fart.
But much of society loves anything with the sound of a fart in it as long as they don't have to smell it too.

maybe it's a hard to understand fact for you that there are a few people out there who love the SH-101 sound, you know the fart from Roland.

interesting that this ignorance come from you, i remember you well from nearly every IK thread here where you tell everybody how great their ancient plugins sounds in (your) truth. nothing bad about it but then please keep the critic fair and constructive overall otherwise it's blown in the wind just like.. ..you know.

I tried the TAl synth uno lx hopefully this new one is better than that. That one was ok but nothing special wouldn't say they are total crap but there are many far better synths out there and for some reason, it has a lot of fanboys but they can't argue the fact it has very few presets available compared to other more accepted and IMHO far better sounding synths.

As to the above statement it was obviously someone reacting to the dis towards a TAL synth not sure why that would make them say something so ugly about Monark or Spire but maybe they have a problem we are not aware of. I have not given the demo a try yet but I bet you most people would disagree with the statement above regarding Monark and Spire.

I am thinking of trying the Spire demo because of all the love it has garnered hopefully it is not a trance synth like so many given love here at KVR.

I really want to try the whoosh synths that came out a few months ago they sound like they would fill a void I have been wanting to fill ever since I heard children of the sun live performed by Billy Thorpe. That opening whoosh fest when they came out on stage was incredible.

Monark has to be the winner of those listed so far but there are plenty of moog emulations to choose from there was not a whoosh type synth till this year and at the same time 2 show up on the market. One of them needs reaktor as I recall.

Don't get me wrong, it has its place, It's just never been one of my favorites because other keyboards do its sound and do more (Also from Roland).

I have a few that have never been favorites for me, but respect that they are favorites of others, that's why I don't think it's a POS as some state. But many of the sounds I hear in many of the libraries I place in the 'digital fart' folder. It's not a deprecation of the synth as much as it is the programmer.

People like the sound of farts. Personally, they are what they are, but I don't get excited over them is all. I have a flat affect to farts unless I'm stuck in an elevator with them.
