You don't have the commercial backbone nor the cashflow of say, NI.

Focus on what sells, and for the rest, take a listen now and then to feature request but do not rely on it, trust your imagination, for it's what gave you the reputation you enjoy now.

And also, F*ck maintenance :) Just go with the perpetual beta policy and allow new ideas to flourish ! :troll:
Sounds very agreeable.

I personally don't have that issue with Uhbik but it would be great if the thread over there would find a good end after four years.

But, broken for years as I said... also notice Urs' "we'll make up for it" on admission of uhbik neglect.
1.3 was back in May 2013 so a half year after your Godot comment over there. I think that this timeframe for fixing a denormal bug is reasonable (taking into account that Urs pointed out a workaround for the time beeing).

I think you overreact on this subject.

I promised it, I added it.
1.2: maintenance(?), but introduced an extra cpu consuming denormal bug which was not fixed for years... even as a beta build (or whatever you guys call it)
Ah, yeah, I remember this. We tried for days but we (Clemens, Fritz and I back then) could never reproduce it. It might indeed have taken years until someone sent a detailed enough report so that we could.

My apologies, you're right on that one. I assumed you meant a bug that still wasn't fixed.

Unfortunately such bugs exist, similar to the mysterious (but now resolved?) mute bug in Satin, and many others that seem to happen to just few persons out of a thousand... but never to us. The lesson learned is, we can not possibly keep track of often vague bug reports on public forums. One of our current endeavours is creating a bug reporting form on our website which will hopefully guide people to give us all the details we need.

However, if you really think that I hinted at Uhbik-X back then because I wanted to drive sales initially, you're mistaken. I was just very excited about it. And as you might know, it was almost done, less the UI. There was an alpha version, but each instance used up 200 or more megabytes of RAM. Too much, even for today's standards. When I tried to bring it down I ended up with crashes all over the place. It didn't work out and at that time Uhbik didn't generate the revenue that would have justified another few months of coding. The question was: Either finish Uhbik-X or avoid insolvency. I went with latter. That's the reason Uhbik stayed at 149$ and never went up.

Later on we did REs, also to give Uhbik another chance to unfold. It didn't. Some Uhbik REs have not grossed enough to pay for their UI development. Some did very well, but in the aftermath I think we lost many months of coding on something that hasn't brought us or Uhbik further.

Then I hired Sascha to expand the Uhbik portfolio. That didn't work out either, at least not in favour of Uhbik. Quite naturally we can't merge algorithms that took one or two years to develop (Satin, Presswerk) into an existing bundle. So Uhbik's low price along with our upgrade policies is a problem here - it's difficult to justify vast expenses just in hope that sales pick up a bit. What if it doesn't? So instead, we need to do smaller steps to rejuvenile Uhbik. We can modernise the existing algorithms but we can't just add new plug-ins that cost tens of thousands or more to develop. That worked when I was alone, but it doesn't work anymore.

So this year we spent all in all a five digit sum on a major redesign of Uhbik. One fine day it'll be part of an update. We didn't do it for the recent updates because those are going to be the definite "legacy ones" (the last ones with old design, the last ones on XP, the last ones on MacOS X 10.5/6/7 etc.). The new UIs will fully replace the existent ones and they're completely different. You'll see.

And this is the final sum up of the Uhbik story so far. Let's hope I don't need to post this ever again.

- Urs
