Peter posted the below comment in the thread titled "What are you using to meet all your saturation/coloring needs?":
Saturator-X?
Also I don't get all the IK bashing.
So it's saturation/"coloring" of some sort. It starts with S and ends with a hyphened X.Or the new IK S........-X
Saturator-X?
Also I don't get all the IK bashing.

Hmmm, there's quite a few IK products a bit older than 6 months, I've not been given any of them for free. I've had the Classic Compressor, Opto Compressor and a few odds-and-sods in Amplitube for free but they've all been quite old.soulone82 wrote:Or just wait 6 months until they literally give it away for free...
Still, maybe you're right, and I look forward to the Lurssen Mastering Console appearing in my available plugins any day soon.

It has a gluing effect that's unique in my plugin collection. For some tracks it's exactly what I need to stick everything together nicely. It does tend to narrow the stereo field a bit on some tracks so the stereo widener knob is perfect to counteract this. For other tracks it brings a subtle and quite transparent 'density' when I need it too. I've also used it with up to 10 dB gain reduction on very lively vocals - lovelyPeter - IK Multimedia wrote:Well I was only hoping that you were half-joking so that exceeds my expectation 2xdo_androids_dream wrote:Just poking fun. I love some of your products - the classic comp you gave away is a daily part of my mastering work so many thanks for that.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:Yes, he and other Grammy Award–winning artists, songwriters, and producers will probably use it just like with other IK products. Thanks for pointing that out.do_androids_dream wrote:Whatever it is I'm sure Teddy Riley can't work without itThanks for that, the freebie is a cool one, even if it has been out for a while, for sure.

Hmmmm, €96 with VAT. Even with 30% off in jampoints, it's too rich for me. Shame, cos it looks great and the video sounded great too

Hard to tell exactly from the video.. seems like a compressor with smoothing on top? that is.. is this pushing the level to clip and once it does, this seems to smooth or soften the gnarlyness. Maybe some form of EQ is working ?
What about this compared to u-he Satin?

Tried it on one of my old mixed but unmastered tracks and yes, it added some really nice 3-D/depth to stereo image (don't know exactly what).cprompt wrote:Hmmmm, €96 with VAT. Even with 30% off in jampoints, it's too rich for me. Shame, cos it looks great and the video sounded great too
Unfortunately it's little bit too expensive for my current plugin budget...
Totally forgot the JamPoints! Ok, so that would be 69 euros then. Not bad. But do I REALLY need it? Sounds good though...

Optimal number of audio plugins is one more than you currently have.

The market for saturators is becoming, hmm, saturated.

This is unfortunately a damn fine plugin. First few minutes of testing are very positive.. and I say unfortunate because I was planning on getting rid of all my IK plugins.
