FR: detailed cpu meter

hey,

how about we have an option to open a detailed cpu meter, telling us on a larger meter exactly the percentage of overall t2 usage, the disk access rates, and even the percentage that filters (vst's) are taking up!



this way we can report bugs more readily, not only to mackie, but to vst dev's... We can optimize our mixes to find out which tracks need rendering etc etc...

If it would be possible...

IIRC there was a discussion years before Tracktion about the CPU/Disc meters in Cubase 3.7/5.0. The developers told us, it would be nearly impossible to give an accurate information. It always is a "guess" at best, because it doesn't depend solely on T itself, but also your system config, running background tasks etc.

The cpu meters in modern sequencers are just a coarse information of what you have eaten up already and what you could expect... everything else would be technically far beyond a meaningful cost-use-relationship.

Could you just run Windows Task Manager? That'll tell you CPU percentage and disk activity.

I know on Mac I sometimes put the Activity Monitor on my dock and it can show a variety of things just there on the dock itself, and one click will open the more detailed view. But then again, Macs and PC's work totally different under the hood also.
