Per clip muting and a global cut feature for removing whole sections of a song without haveing to move automation.

The clip muting is a very popular FR, not sure about the other one. Then again, I'm not sure what you mean. Are you talking about deleting just the audio or MIDI files UNDERNEATH the automation, but leaving the automation so you can add something different under it instead without having to re-automate? Maybe I'm just confused.

What I was getting at was having the feature to remove/cut a section of a song and have the feature to bring the 2 remaining parts together, without having to copy/past all the automation and paste it into a new location.
e.g. I decide to remove or reduce in size a post chorus/pre verse part. Say, a 2 bar section. It is easy to cut out this section by selecting and cutting all tracks, you can then delete the unwanted section and move the remainder forward by 2 bars. But you would then have to go back and show, select section, cut, paste all automation so that it is back in line with the section of the song that was moved forward to fill the gap left by removing 2 bars.
Actually it might be a global cut/paste that I am after. Midi tracks/audio tracks/automation and all.

I believe that would be clip based automation. Where the automation will move with the clips you move. That is also one of the highest requested features, and supposedly it's planned. Not sure when though.

Well I guess it is, sort of. Obviously that would work but sometimes per clip features are a pain. e.g. changing the midi chanel on a track that has lots of little chopped up midi clips. I'd prefer to be able to do global cut and past of all song components at a given song position.koolkeys wrote:I believe that would be clip based automation. This can already be done in T2. Select a track. Select all tracks. Choose Delete Marked region>Delete Marked Region and Close the Gaps from the properties panel. Note that only limitation of this is that tempo changes are not moved.

Oooh thanks. That's great and I wish I asked it last week. Thanks for pointing out the obvious.
Now, back to that per clip muting.

Yeah per clip muting has been requested a bunch. I'm sure it'll apear sooner or later. For now, simply add a volume filter to the clip itself, and use the mute in the volume filter. Or just adjust the clip volume down to zero.

I have a problem with using this function. It happened to me several times that after I did this, I couldn't change any filter paramaters anymore, everytime I moved a slider, it went back to its original position after I released it. It only seems to happen in larger, more complicated edits, maybe it has something to with automation, but I am not sure of that. Is this a known issue?

drag one of the "A"'s from the end of any track & dump it on a volume filter that is giving you this problem, if it shows volume in green (i think its green, but you can vue the line any way) then there is automation you recorded by mistake when you had the automation record armed, nis wrote:Hi Beno,Beno wrote:This can already be done in T2. or just turn off automation playback & see if you get controll back of the volume filter

Thanks for the tip, but I have already checked this. Also, it happens on all filters on all tracks, I can't possibly have recorded automation for all filter parameters in my edit. Furthermore, if I had recorded any automation, it would also be there if I didn't delete a region of my edit. BTW, if I press undo after this problem occurs, I have control over my filters again, but if I try again, I get the same problem.djsubject wrote:

Anyway, it is not a big deal for me, I just thought I'd mention it to see if anyone else has the same problem.

I am having this same problem, hopefully this is fixed in an update. It also causes a huge glitch when tracktion tries to read a few hundred (or thousand) automation points all at once, which will happen where you cut out the section of song (there is a point for every filter parameter, whether it was previously automated or not)
