G'day again!

Don't know if that's a good way of putting it...

When multiple audio files are selected in the edit window, I'd like to be able to fade all of them equally and simultaneously, by dragging one of the files' fader.

Is that as clear as mud? If not, don't blame me - I've been drinking Jack Daniels and watching the cricket, after a long day - it's 4am here.

Seems like your right, it shoul work that way. I'll get it on the list.
I wish I had been able to spend the day watching the ashes. I fear I will get nothing done sunday and monday. Its probably going to rain out tomorrow and saturday I hear. I'm living in London but I'm a yank so I don't really care either way; I just like good cricket. Warnes bowling well.

You could route those tracks to an empty track and do the fade on that track.

Post

well yeah, but he's talking about the fade handles on the clips themselves.

it'd be nice to have that other FR, where an incision will automatically apply a fade [amount set in the options] to both edges of the split.
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

Yep, that sounds good, too!

I'd definitely go for an auto-fade to split clips. This would save me heaps of work.

Maybe I misunderstand but can't you fade the master in and out?

Post

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm wanting it on a per-clip basis.

If you fade the master it will affect to entire mix, not just a few tracks.

I think I get it now. You want to coordinate fades for multiple clips INSIDE an edit simulatneously.

I suppose the only way to do that now is to route those clip's tracks to another and automate that volume. I can understand why that's inconvenient.

In fact, I've been working in Live lite 4 quite a bit recently (free with my M-audiophile box so why not?) Tracktion could really improve the way it handles editing of multiple tracks ie: cutting/deleting selected, looping, resizing, retaining automation data when moving etc.

Not a complaint, just an observation. Nothing anyone hasn't pointed out before. I also now understand the need for better timestretching in T. Something I never put much credence in until the last few days. Live loop features like warp markers are very, very useful.

All in all, Tracktion has tremendous potential. I just hope the pace of development picks up again. There's still a lot to do.

If the clips are on the same track then that method doesnt work. Each clip in Tracktion has its own fade-in/out handle. I think he just wants to select several clips no matter where they are and move one of the fade handles to affect all of them. Kinda like you can do with the volume filters. Select all volume filters then hold down shift to adjust all of the selected volumes at the same time.

sounds like the logical thing to happen.
