Can you record from the cursor??

Hi guys,

I've noticed a peculiar thing while recording. When recording "live" keyboard parts (via midi in this instance) I like to do a section at a time, if I can't manage it all at once ;-)

Anyway, I noticed that even if you place the cursor (blue line) at the spot you like it to start, it jumps back to where you last started from. Is that a setting? I've been working around it by pressing play after changing cursor position, THEN stop, THEN record, but, as Lunch Money would know, I'm irritatingly pedantic about my work flow... :hihi:

Let me know if I should add this as a feature request, or if it already exists as an option!

Btw, the manual TRULY sux! :D

tip!

click at the part you want to record from, press play, press stop, then record

T2 jumps back to your last play point, not the marker point ;)

You can set that from the Options button..
"Return Cursor to start position when play stops"

lol@dj - no probs, mate!

darcy - that's not what I meant, dude, although I use that function as a matter of course. I'm after "record from cursor" ;-)

BTW even though my post was pointless, its the only way to get it to happen :(

but a work flow tip would be

click to desired record point then QUICKLY hit the space bar twice then hit r, this should take no longer than 0.5 seconds max! after 10 practice runs :hihi:

once it becomes habit its not so annoying :)

It does that though doesn't it? If I deslect that, place the cursor and start recording that;s where it records from.

So if I hit spacebar twice, I can record starting at any point even while in loop mode?

Hi darcy,

Does it really??? I'm not at home, so I can't check, but dj's advice makes me think it doesn't work. I'll try it when I get home!

By the way, this would actually be more annoying in some ways, as I would have to keep selecting and deselecting that option - nice to know there's an option, at least!

With MIDI this is how record worked with T1. With T2 it starts recording always from the in-marker, shame, it was better the way it was in T1.

Better to record from cursor IMO

loop mode will allways start from the beginning of the loop

this is tru!

if not in "return curser to start" mode it will record from curser! (but i nerly allways have this on)

it would be nice to have a short cut key to turn this on & off IMO

sorry for not putting this in my prair post

Fantastic! Thanks darcy and dj - can you add key commands using Tracktion? If so, that would work for me!

you can map keyboard commands in Tracktion but ATM you cant map to "return curser to start" :(

but have a look at what you can map allready!!!

it may well put a big smile on your face ;)
