Looping outboard gear with T2

I have looked through the documentation and searched the forum, but I can't find an answer to this question.

I'm using a Mackie Onyx 1220 with the firewire card option. I plan to use some outboard gear in post, so I need some way to loop individual channels back through the Onyx. I just don't know how to do the routing. Will I need to create a fresh track and record onto that, then delete the original track?

Basically yes, but muting the original track will do just as well.

You can also monitor inputs live, but in that case you would need to manually compensate for latency delay. (select the track, then enter a value in the "advance" field)

I'd suggest never deleting the original tracks.

I always start editing with a copy of edit 1, (the original edit).

As I reach milestones I continue to copy edits, naming and dating sequential edits in the process.

This allows me to always be able to step backwards all the way to the original raw tracks if ever desired. This way also helps in case an edit ever becomes corrupted, you don't lose it all.
