KVR Shop

OK - maybe it's just me, but I hate it when I'm forced to jump through hoops unneccessarily.
So... I'm interested in the PPMulator, I click on the link and read about it. Seems fine, so I wonder what it costs. Is there anything about cost on these pages? If there is, I couldn't find it.
That's gripe number one - why do manufacturers not state the price of their products up-front?
OK - seen all this before, I'll have to go to the shop and pretend to buy one to find out. Except, I can't do this without registering!
That's gripe number two - why am I asked to give personal details, just to find out the price of something?
Well, although miffed, I'm still interested enough to know the answer, so I create an account and all that stuff. Finally, I get the the shop - only to be told there are no products available for sale at this time.
That's gripe number three - why couldn't this information have been made available on the initial webpage?
I have been forced (yet again - KVR is not the only culprit) to divulge my email address, merely to find out information which should - and could - be made available anonymously.

it's stated in the first post of the release thread....

I don't understand KvRs role in this. You have to get an account with Raw Material not KvR (unless KvR has a shop that I am not aware of)

this thread is in the official Raw Material Company forum - so what's your problem with it?progfusion74 wrote:I don't understand KvRs role in this. You have to get an account with Raw Material not KvR (unless KvR has a shop that I am not aware of)

I think he was just complaining that KVR requires an email address to register on...and that not everything is accessable without registering...not that there was any type of KVR shop. However it is interesting that they title of the thread is "KVR shop" which really doesnt make much sense...unless its suppoesed to be KVR/shop in which he could be referencing the two seperatly...anyway...
Graeme:
Its all about marketing and statistics. By its kinda like cookies without having to put a file on your drive...tracking people via email addresses or other info a company can either send info (which alot do but not all) or just plain old see how many times someone is checking things, accessing pages, etc. That way they can make descisions on how to modify things to better suit the potential or present customer. Todays society is an information hungry market based place and there isnt much any of us can do about it. Personaly I have a fake email address that I use on hotmail that I use when a company "needs" that info. I check it once to get my login/password...then dont check it again until I have to...it works great and I dont get spam to my real email

OK...he's talking about the rawmaterial shop! Where the new PPM meter thingy is sold....nothing to do with KVR?!?. The shop doesn't show a price, and makes you register to buy, that's all.
(p.s. the price is 19.95 GBP, or about US$37)

Graeme, KVR isn't in any way affiliated with Raw Material Software other than hosting this forum and generally anouncing important news of the vst-world on its frontpage - KVR is not selling anything to anyone other than space for advertisement-banners.... (appearing on the top of each page)
Your critique is adequate and placed corrently (here in this forum) - however it is adressed inadequately - you are critizing something about RMS, not KVR!

no offense, but this thread is a completely pointless whinge! the kvr news item of the ppmulator has a price on it. the post jules made has a price on it. the website homepage news item has a price on it too, but you're right in that the main ppmulator page is missing a price. but it's written everywhere else, you just weren't looking properly :p
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

Actually, Graeme, I hate that too... which is ironic seeing as I set up the shop on the Raw Material Software website!Graeme wrote:OK - maybe it's just me, but I hate it when I'm forced to jump through hoops unneccessarily.
Sorry about the lack of a price - it IS £19.99UK (that's about $36USD) - but what basically happened is that the downloads section was finished before the credit-card handling stuff had come through, so we decided to allow people to download (and try out) PPMulator in the few days before they can buy it - you have to download it before you buy it anyway.
The price not being on the main info page is simply an error on my part - I thought it was! - because this "going round the houses to find stuff out" thing really p*sses me off, too!
For various reasons it'll probably be late Monday or Tuesday before the purchasing stuff goes live, at which point I'll make sure the price is nice and clear on the main page, too.
Sorry about that Graeme, but in the meantime you can still download PPMulator (without registering your email address or anything - that's just for purchasing) and give it a good thrashing for a few days to make sure it all works on your system!
Thanks,
Philip
