audio looping tool for Tracktion ?

Hello
I have Tracktion 1,6, and I like to use it to control hardware synths.
But i also like to cut & slice a lot of audio loops (lke i previously used to do with Acid).
I don't really like Tracktion to recognize audio files as loops or autostretching and repeating them.
is there any way to make it easier ?
I'm maybe thinking of a little integrated tool (a vst plgin, as tackybrowser is an integrated vst brower), or a keyboard shortcut to make the imported file automaticly synced and loopable..
Does anything of that kind exist, or is there a real lack ?
Who does use tracktion with many looped audio files ? (I don't repeat much loops, but i have to have very accurate tempo-sync files)...

If anyone can help, with hints, tips, tools,e tc.

Lack of loop sync/time stretch is one of Tracktion's weaknesses right now, if you're the kind of user who uses loops (which I am, too!).

DASHsignature are coming out with an ogg playback plug-in, but it won't sync everything up, you have to use MIDI messages to play the loop, and the loop already has to be in time with your song.

AMG Solo might do the trick, but I believe it uses Rex and not Acid format.

although this would be and should be native in t2, ive been getting along real nice using Live 5 or Acid 5 to do this rewired.

Yes i'm the kind of guy using 60-90 audio tracks by song, and looping/slicing a bit of everything.
Tracktion is really good at midi stuff and to use plugins the way we want, but i wanted to quit using Acid and put my loops in tracktion : it is very boring !!
i have to : 1-import, 2-timestrech, and 3-tell how many times i plan to loop it !
In acid everything could come synced, and the brush tool was perfect !
It is quite a pity there is no such a way of doing it.

nevermind, I'll my many diffrent hosts, eahc for its best things. I hoped i could have one host doing every task (accurate audio sequencing and slicing, live mangling and midi external controlling...).

There is one thing TRacktion is very good at : the ability to put a clip in different tracks, which Acid does not...

AMG Solo has been mentioned, but if you want more slicing power in a plugin, get something like Phatmatic Pro. I think it's still getting support on the PC.

I don't see what the big deal is?
I use loops in Tracktion all the time. Sure it could be easier, but at the same time you have the ability to fully customize.
Slicing and an option to automatically fit it to the current project would be great features no doubt. I just don't see the lack of these being any kind of "Show stopper".

I use loops all the time, too-- but they're already to tempo. I think the original poster wanted something that would accomodate shifts in tempo.

I mean, when I have a song that's 95bpm, I try to find loops that are 95bpm. If I can't, then I use Tracktion's time-stretch for a 'scratch' arrangement of the track and then do it up properly in Plasma Express.

Since PE is only 16-bit and a lot of loops are coming in 24-bit now, it requires some farting around from time to time.

It's one of the main reasons I'm discovering the joys of MIDI loops instead of audio loops. But for certain things, it's pretty tough to beat audio.

Another solution is to slice it manually. You import your loop, set the tempo to the loop's tempo (there is an autotempo dialog) and then use the "/" key to slice it into smaller clips containing individual hits. Then you can set the tempo you want and everything is in sync (you should have the "remap clips position ..." in the timecode dialog checked). Kind of manual beatslicing. It's not one click operation but not that hard either and the possibilities are endless. Some kind regular forumite (was it you Greg? IIRS? don't remember) explained the details and gave some examples long time ago but I have not the thread bookmarked.

AMG solo uses rex and Acidiced wav but it is very flakey at reading acidised wav - some it will, some it won't. I quereid this with the developers and they say they are aware of it - it's an issue with the loader code which they are going to fix but not until they have finished working on some other product in development.

this was a few months ago - may be worth contacting them to see if that's changed.

I have done this successfully in T1.6.

The only thing lacking to this method is a way to group those clips for easy copying in the edit.

Let's say that you have a 4 bar loop all sliced and locked to tempo in T. Now, try easily copying that 4 bar section somewhere else in T.

Doesn't work. You have to export that 4 bar section as audio, re-import, then put at a different location

OR

Shoot it to another track with TapeIt on it, or something to that effect, and clip that section for copying.

But wouldn't it be nice just to group those audio clips together for shuffling around in T?

that's what i rade from the forum Rockstar_not linked above.
I just would like something doing the opposite (as the sKnote stuff seems to work) : syncing the loop to the tempo (and not the tempo to the loop).
I just hoped that it was possible to make a nearly transparent, tracktion/wrappable macro or addon giving the user the possibility to make with one keyboard shortcut (or so) what you have to do in 4 or 5 steps...
Something which doesn't requires to get learned, nor midi manipulation...something quick, efficient time-gaining add-on !
The "brush" tool on Acid is perfect : just paint your track with it, auto-tempo sync !
Tracktion's lacking such a feature !

Well, if such a thing doesn't exist (or can't exist, which is worse !), i'll even be glad to know the existence of Sknote traks !
