I've been using Tracktion 2 for a week now and I love it so far. Just wanted to add my wish list for any future updates/versions:

1) Ability to bounce Quicktime movies

2) Ability to take out click without interupting recording

3) Duplicate track

4) Heal separated regions

5) Ability to punch in without having to use Out marker

Great product

Post

There are quite a few operations that shouldn't interupt playback/recording.

?

If you highlight a track and press Control+C you copy a whole track with everything inside as well as the fx/vsti behind it.

(and then CTRL+V to paste it again). ;)

#6 has been more or less fulfilled for me, Fripper! Sorry to hear you're still not happy wit' it.

I'd like to see new collaboration tools. That would be sweet. And auto-create and auto-dissolve of racks to and from regular filter chains in the filter section.

Do you use MIDI? The MIDI still has tons of problems, but it is functional. I won't abandon T2, but we are due for a major update, IMO.

I mainly use MIDI for drums. I've done the occasional bass and keys parts, but never a full arrangement.

Only bug I run into (although I'll take your word for it that they exist) is the dropped first-note issue that's still there.

I use MIDI extenively and rarely encounter anything that gets in my way, so horses for course, I guess. *External* MIDI is another matter, though, although I've got a workaround for that.

I wish NI would buy T2 so T3 can be called Traktion.

Don't forget the excellent Feature Request thread that is stickied. I hold out some hope that Mackie cruises that thread every once in awhile for inspiration as to what to work on next (if that is happening - sometimes it's very hard to tell).

The Spike experiences I read about make me wonder. It's so tempting to buy, but then one looks at the various plea for help that folks have over at the official Mackie forum that go unanswered, and it makes one go "hmmmmmmm, I wonder what is going on with that product - it looks orphaned". At times, the same seems true for Tracktion. I wonder if they have even begun to recover their advertising costs for the product.

Tracktion doesn't even have the slightest hint of feeling orphaned for me. Au contraire.

For somebody who has only used Tracktion for a week, a feature request list with five items already seems a bit alarming  . It's a good job one of the five has been answered by the good folk here.

I'm still waiting for feature 6, along with Frippertronix :(
