Just ordered a Receptor! :)

Hi,

Well, I finally went ahead with the purchase of a new Receptor from Sweetwater. Seems they're on backorder but that's okay, I can wait.

I'm looking forward to off-loading my computer and letting it deal with just mixing and my occassional use of Reason.

Does anyone know if Uniwire will be in all plugin versions? Or is it a "deeper layer" (like an audio device driver)? Seems like it's a device driver to me.

Will the Uniwire require Gigabit ethernet? I don't have that in my iMac G5.

Will my new Receptor come with Gigibit ethernet? Somehow, I doubt it. Hmmmm....

Uniwire will allow Receptor to appear as a plugin in your DAW. Any plugin on Receptor would be available.

Receptor has a 100BaseT ethernet card, we only require Gigibit on your DAW if you are connecting more than 1 Receptor over Uniwire.

So, um, pardon my ignorance but it will show up as a "Instrument track"? Or as an "Audio track" within my DAW? As if it was a "plug-in" itself? Or more like how I can choose where I want to route audio? I use Pro Tools and Live 5. Seems to me like it would show up like Rewire does. Which is cool.

Alrighty then... I'm off to read everything I can about this.

Thanks for the invite! Yes, I saw them and I'm anxious to get my Receptor and start playing. I just read the White Paper for UniWire. If it's stable, that is going to be BIG. Wow. I gave myself a headache thinking about the routing capabilities it gives me. I hope it's stable.
