Is it possible to use a single Receptor to:
1) Allow a guitarist to "sit in" at one of my gigs - by simply bringing his axe and having him process through my receptor (separate in and separate out) while...
2) I use a separate in to process my DJ rig (effects and compressor) while...
3) A vocalist / MC uses another channel to process their vocals while...
4) My keyboardist accesses ethnic drum samples and vintage keys?

...

I have checked out all the info on the Receptor site but am curious how others make this type of set up work with so few outs...

Thanks in advance,

P.S. The reason I am asking is that this type of "one brain" set up would allow me to take a "group" to perform at what are historically "DJ only" venues...

Receptor has 3 audio inputs, guitar (mono), line (stereo, of course), and S/PDIF (also stereo). But, you can use only 2 at the same time, any combination, but only two.

You could connect your DJ stuff to the S/PDIF input (assuming it has an S/PDIF output or you have a converter), then connect the guitar to the left of the line input and the singer to the right input. This means that you will need a guitar preamp and a mic preamp (you need the mic preamp any way). Or you could plug the guitar in the guitar input, which BTW has a great preamp designed by Roger Linn, and plug the DJ stuff in the left input and the output of the mic preamp in the right input.

That is possible, but it would be very awkward. You can easily do the guitar and the DJ stuff, while at the same time use a MIDI keyboard.

As for the outputs, you can buy a Behringer ADAT interface for $229 and get 8 outputs + the 2 analog outs of Receptor. The outputs are not a problem. 2 inputs are not a problem either.

After some major schematic drawings - here's what I've arrived at: 1) guitar in the guitar input; 2) aux sends 1 and 2 from my mixer to the L and R inputs of the Receptor; 3) MIDI in from my key controller; 4) Get the Behringer ADAT interface and send stereo guitar out 1 and 2, F/X "1" (from Receptor L in) out 3 and 4, F/X "2" (from Receptor R in) out 5 and 6, and keyboard sounds (from MIDI in) out 7 and 8... Would this work? - If so, what is the exact model number for the ADAT interface? - I can't seem to find it on the web.

P.S. Thanks for the help, btw...[/quote]

Actually, I think I found this... Is this it - the ADA 8000?

Yes, that's the ADAT device.

You can assign an input to each Receptor channel. You can assign "Guitar In" or "Line In" You couldl assign "Line In" twice, and pan one channel left and the other right, but probably the best routing would be to use both channels from the aux of your mixer with a series of effects, out to ADAT 3 and 4, then again both channels fron the aux of your mixer with a different series of effects, and out to ADAT 5 and 6.
