Odd shift in envelope

Hello,
I just started using the peakmeter (freeware). It seems to be capturing the volume perfectly, except the envelope is shifted forward in time a bit.
For instance, the envelope will show a rise about .08 seconds before the vocal actually occurs.
I am using Vegas 5.0 on a Pentium D PC.
What could I do to sync things up better?
Thanks!
Jeff

The issue with sequencers is that they do not allow to write parameters more than once per buffer:peak meter precision is related to your sequencer latency.
So if you want to improve the precision of peak meter synchronization, you have to change the buffer size (or number of buffers) in the audio options of vegas. The lower latency, the better precision!

Not yet-- still looking into the buffer issue. But to be clear, peak meter is registering an increase in the envelope slightly BEFORE the actual sound happens. If it were a latency issue, wouldn't the envelope show up slightly AFTER the sound happens?
Thanks,
Jeff

Having it before or after depends on your host. The latency is what you can hear because the sound card waits for the end of the buffer before rendering the sound. But internally the software manages the parametersthe way it wants from the beginning to the end of the buffer.
This is an identified "issue" and the only solution is the diminution of latency to improve the time precision.
