Should Tracktion 2 look like this?

First off - apologies if this has been asked.
I'm not a regular in this part of KvR and there are multi-threads to wade through to maybe find the answer I seek - plus it may have been asked differently... aaaaanywaaaayyyyy...

I've just installed the latest Tracktion update (2.0.2.8 ) and it seems to have sent the whole thing a bit wonky and messy.

I'm sure it never used to look this messy?

Does this look right to you?
If it does, I don't much like the new look. Used to be much smarter as far as I remember. (No, I don't use it very often )

You might want to switch the color scheme, the default is not very appealing nor clean. Go to "settings" and "colour editor" and see if any of the supplied presets looks better.

I'm sure it used to look neater than this?
For instance plug-in names that don't fit into the alloted boxes, those messy barlines...
It's been a while since I opened up Tracktion (I'm a bit like that. If I want to write a tune I don't want to go through a whole nother learning process. I just want to get on with it, hence I 99% of the time use A.N.Other host ) so the difference struck me pretty much straight away and I thought I'd installed the update incorrectly but thought I'd ask before doing a complete un/re-install.

I changed skins to a less busy one, and unexpectedly found that it actually helped my workflow and made me more patient. The default skin makes me aggressive and impatient. I suppose it's individual, so surprisingly I find myself supporting skins on all software now, and spending some time finding a good one is worth the hassle.

Some not-skin-related tips to keep a T edit clean (YMMV):

Restore your track to default height, and scroll to get around.
Switch off the input pane.
You can expand the plugin pane more, and switch it off when not dealing with plugins.
Dropping all those input meters will also clear a lot of room.


And yes, change that skin. It is disturbing.

I was using Beno's Bogic for a long while, and liked it a lot, but recently I switched to Mod's last (I think) theme. It's easy on the eye, and very pleasant to work with.

Multree's Dust, with a few tweaks (it was a bit TOOO monocrome, so I adjusted colour a touch). I can't seem to switch to anything else now.

Sure I can. It's not THAT different, and other than the clip colours (I increased opacity and colour strength) I can't even remember what else I changed. Only one or two other things. BUT, it's on the way.
